petetony thoughts in my head right now... a small little list of headcanons to get outta my head before i hit the hay
-> i like to imagine that most of tony's friends are people that he had to initiate contact with first. he'd have to put in the effort to befriend other popular or cool people (ex. the webbers and pablo) because yk, egotist who cares about his image. but a lot of kids are offput by this attitude and think he's hard to approach. that can really feel isolating as a kid!
-> so, when pete approaches him first asking him to come over to his house, i like to think that deep down he really appreciates that another kid put in the effort for once. like ofc on the surface he's like grr that idiot pete invited me over for nothing but pete continues to bother him to come over like every other day or so and they become genuinely good friends.
-> and they both admire each other for different things. tony is in awe at just how fast pete can be no matter what game theyre playing, and pete adores how tony isn't afraid to speak his mind (not to mention pete's passivity and tony's activity compliment each other well). little things that just draw them to each other.
-> they definitely started doing 1v1 sports practice stuff in pete's backyard after a certain point. this is just boybonding 101 /silly
