A side of quilin culture not well know by outsiders is that of the Psyren.
Quilins, believe it or not, are naturally psionic, able to weaponize ether and use it to bend the space around them.
Psyrens are an order of monks that dedicate their life to such studies, honing their mind and body, to become feared warriors on the battlefield.
Quilins are already fast and tough, but psyrens take it one step beyond. They learn how to properly use their psychic talent to conjure weapons, create force fields and use it for ranged attack.
While powerful, technology has made most of these powers impractical, but psyren still stand as one of the most respected order in quilin societies and lots of aspiring psyren join the monasteries every year.
Psyrens always wear a short cape, the color and decoration representing the actual rank, but very few of the aspiring psyren actually get to wear one and properly don the prestigious title.

this drawing was kind of a way for me to get out of a bad art block. I want to improve my drawings and generally change and get more fluid. You can see in the lunging quilin right there, where i actually felt like the drawing was making itself.
