“I AM LEAVING.” I stood up. I didn’t like the stench of alcohol and the loud music. I made a disgusted face as I turned away from the picture of two people making out just right across me.
“Hey, just a little bit longer.” He grabbed my hand but I pulled away from him. I tried to leave but he forcefully dragged me to sit down down again. I glared at him.
“I told you, this is the LAST time I am going to accompany you while drinking. Besides, I have curfew, I can’t stay for that long.” I explained to him but he didn’t seem to be paying attention. He asked the bartender for another bottle of beer and happily drank from the bottle without even using a glass. I felt my veins popping as I slammed down a hand on the counter, frightening the poor staff behind us.
“STOP. DRINKING.” I snatched away the bottle from his hands. He was dazed for a moment before realizing what I did.
“Hey!” He reached up to grab it from me but fell from his seat instead, wobbling as he pulled himself up to stand. I gave the bottle of beer to the bartender and asked him to take it away.
“Stop! Return it to me--” I hit him on the back of his neck and he went unconscious. He fell down to the floor and was helped up to the divan by the waiters. I rubbed my temples and reached out for my phone on the counter.
“Raven.” I called one of my friends for help, “Hmm? What’s up?” He asked me on the other side of the line. Good thing he’s still awake.
“I need your help. Chris got drunk again.” I sighed tiredly as I glanced at Chris’ flushed face sleeping with his brows furrowed.
“Eh?? Seriously? Wait, I’m going there right now, what bar are you at?” I heard shuffling on the other line and I was guessing he’s already on his way here.
“The usual place, Fortune. We’re at the VIP lounge area.” I checked my watch and saw that it was almost 12:00 p.m.
“Please hurry up though, I need to go already. My mom’s definitely gonna kill me when I get home. Bye.” I hanged up on the call and waited for him to get here. After 20 minutes, the bar already closed and we’re the only people left when Raven suddenly burst into the entrance. I felt relieved.
“Where is he?” He approached me and I gestured towards the divan where Chris was still sleeping. He just frowned and shook his head.
“I’ll take care of it from here. You can go home now. I already informed your mom while I was driving here, she said as long as you arrive home it’s fine.” I let out a sigh of relief hearing that. He also told me that there was already a cab waiting for me outside so I thanked him and left. When I arrived home, I saw my mom standing by the door with a worried look in her face.
“Mom.” I hugged her and we entered the house. She asked me about Chris’ condition.
“I don’t know, mom. I guess he’s still heartbroken about Lucy.” We both sighed.
“What a poor child... That’s why you should never start any relationships while it’s early, it will save you any heartbreak for later.” She then started nagging me about how we’re still too young for these kinds of things and that we should focus on studying first. I shook my head helplessly.
“Don’t worry, mom. I won’t be getting into any of that soon, I believe.” Besides, that’s impossible. I went upstairs to my room and dropped my bag to the bed. I approached the vanity and touched my reflection.
“What a scary face...” I muttered and chuckled. While I can agree on how people say that I have fine looks and a good sense of fashion, my pessimistic personality has a negative on how I appear to other people. I was about to take a bath when my phone rang.
“Hello?” It was an unknown number. My face darkened when I heard a familiar soft and gentle voice on the other side of the phone.
“Qin Lian...” I was about to hang up but she seems to have sensed what I was gonna do.
“W-Wait! I have something important to say...” I furrowed my brows but kept silent. I stopped myself from putting down the phone.
“I-I heard that something happened to C-Chris... I-Is he okay..?” I scoffed but still didn’t say anything. A few minutes later, I heard a quiet sobbing that made me roll my eyes, ‘I didn’t even say anything yet, geez.’ What exactly is this girl planning?
“I won’t ask for forgiveness. But I want to ask you for a favor.” My eyebrows twitched. I couldn’t believed what I was hearing.
“I-I want to meet up with Chris.” I snapped.
“AND WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I’LL ALLOW TO THAT, HUH?!” I shouted into the phone. Even if I wasn’t there, I could imagine her cowering in fear.
“I-I just want to explain everything to him! About the reason for my actions, everything! I don’t want it to end like this--” “EVEN AFTER EVERYTHING YOU’VE SAID TO HIM?! DO YOU THINK I’M AN IDIOT?! AND WHY ARE YOU EVEN ASKING ME THIS, CHRIS IS THE YOU SHOULD BE CALLING, NOT ME!” I said in one breath. Her crying made a turn for the worse.
“BUT HE WON’T ANSWER ANY OF MY CALLS OR TEXTS! I-I don’t...*sob* I don’t know what to do anymore... *sob*” I couldn’t believe this. I felt incredulous on behalf of Chris.
“Well, that isn’t any of my problem. Go figure it out for yourself.” I hanged up and messed up my hair. I don’t want to think of any of this shit.
In the end, I just went to the bathroom for my long post-phoned bath.
