Pat wanted to get closer to Pran, just by himself without pulling in any external factors. He wanted Pran to like him for who he is and befriend him again. He tried his best to not hurt Pran in all the engineering vs architecture brawls, he helped Pran to secure money to build the bus stop, he volunteered to move out (also because he felt guilty). But even then Pran kept trying to keep his distance. And then Pran got pissed that even after all the hassle, the company could only invest half the amount and he still needed to find more. He realised that no matter what he or Pat did, they were never gonna have a smooth or easy friendship. So he kept his distance. And that was when Pat realised that he had to pull out the big guns. That’s when he decided to give Pran his guitar back. Because he knew how much the guitar meant to him, and he knew that Pran would soften the moment he gets that. But he wanted Pran to like him for who he was first. He still one more trick up his sleeve to settle the bus stop issue, but that was when he decided that he’ll give back the guitar. And so the moment he could convince his eng gang to help out with the bus stop. When that hurdle was solved, and Pat knew that Pran was more calm again, that’s when gave the guitar.

Things I learnt from Bad Buddy!

1. You don’t always have to live up to your parent’s expectations. It’s not your responsibility to carry on their dreams and hatred. You are allowed to live your own life and follow your dreams. But that does not mean you have to do it in a rude and disrespectful manner. You can have a decent conversation with them to try and see if you can come to a mutual agreement, if not, you can politely agree to disagree and continue living your life.

2. The people whom you think might not be right for you, can end up being the best person for you. Let people in, you don’t always have to be in control of your emotions. And the people you thought you could always rely on might break your trust sometimes. (I’m still very pissed that Wai never apologized for what he did. I’m not mad that Pran forgave him, that is his decision. But I really wish that we had that conversation as to why outing someone is never acceptable)

3. You might be someone who just realised your sexuality recently and can be totally comfortable with coming out. Or you can also be someone who knows for a long time, and still choose not to let people know. Your sexuality is yours, it’s not something you have to announce, and it’s also up to you to decide when/whom you decide to tell.

4. Your parents may not always know what’s best for you. They might want the best for you, but you decide what is right and best for you. And they are also not without faults. Sometimes you just have to learn when to bite your tongue and wait for the day you get to be free.

5. It is very important to have a close knit of friends/family you can trust. It is completely okay to rely on people. In fact it is great to have someone you can call your safe space, someone you can be raw and open with.

6. It is very important to have honest and open communication in any relationship. That trust and mutual respect for each other as equals are the basis for a solid foundation for any relationship.

7. Fight for your dreams and passions. Life is too short to live by someone else’s rules. If you strongly believe in a cause, never stop fighting for it. You might be the only one who cares, but don’t let the world change you. You can still make a difference!

8. Life is also too short to be serious all the time. So have fun, play some pranks (without hurting anyone), have some crazy bets, do some stupid stuff. Let loose and have fun!

This episode is making me feel so much. I just have to get it off my chest.

It started off with such a cute scene (we’re gonna skip the hospital scene for now), and as much as I LOVE super confident Pran who loves riling up his boyfriend, part of me was hoping that Pat would not give in and turn it around instead. Pat has always been more vocal about his affections, and even though Pran has been expressing his affections in silent but bold whispers, I wanted him to speak out a bit more! Still love how that scene ended though. I legit squealed when they did the fistbump. Firstly cos it’s THEIR THING. And also, it’s more equal than the whole ring giving thing.

It’s nice to see the foursome chill out and have fun, especially after ep 9. But Wai, you still owe Pran an apology for outing them like that. That’s still such a dick move, especially when you overheard him saying how he is not ready for people to know yet. So yes, still waiting for that.

“Studying in faculty of engineering but majoring in performing arts.” Don’t ask me why, but I found this absolutely hilarious and had to pause to laugh it out.

INKPA!!! I am so glad it finally happened! I was so scared to get my hopes up, because I did not want to be disappointed in this again. I’m just ecstatic that they made inkpa happen. Also Love’s acting in this scene! She nailed it! The way she was so fidgety, and scared to talk about her feeling but also sad that her feelings aren’t reciprocated. That quiver in her voice. It was so good. And Milk’s initial hesitation and then her confidence to open up to Pa. I love me some happy girlfriends and I am so glad that Bad Buddy delivered!!

LOVEY DOVEY BOYFRIENDS FINALLY GOT TO EAT HOTPOT TOGETHER!! Before shit hit the fan. Oh gosh, they way they both confronted their parents!! Even at that moment, Pran felt like he had to leave his guitar out and hide from his mum. Even though he knew that a confrontation was unavoidable and that everything was bound to come out into the open. I loved how both the sons were actually really composed during the confrontation. It was not a screaming match about how their parents tried to control them and make decisions for them. They were in total control of their emotions, they just wanted for the truth to be out. They just wanted to understand why they were brought up with so much hate for each other’s families. They wanted their parents to understand that they are done with the feud and the bullshit.

And that final scene. The way Pran calls Pat on the phone cos he needs him. The way he just completely (finally) gives in to his emotions and breaks down in the arms of the person he trusts and loves. The way he honestly cries out that he can’t take it anymore, because he knows his feelings and needs will be acknowledged, will be respected. The way he just clings on to Pat without any hesitation and doubt. That was brutal enough, but then you have Pat, who is also dealing with his own emotions, putting it all aside to be there for Pran. He knows Pran needs that time and space to release his emotions, because he never got the chance to do it before. He readily becomes Pran’s source of support and comfort. The way he holds Pran so close to him, rubs his hair, silently let’s Pran have his moment while also feeling his pain. (Those tears!!) What a way to end the episode. Nanon and Ohm’s acting in this episode was just stellar. I can’t even begin to describe how raw that final scene was.

Love it that in the end, it’s not that they hid their relationship well (cos they clearly can’t keep a straight *ahem* face), just that their close friends were in on it, and their parents decided to close one eye and also their ears.

I still can’t stop smiling. I loved that they didn’t give us angst (except for the first 5-8mins?) in the finale. It was just fluff and adorable boyfriends being absolute cuties.

Yes yes, the initial bit was painful with Pat being all “I’m so alone. Everything reminds me of my first love.” But when he walks to the dorm, and he takes a photo of the doormat, BAM, the charade is over. There is no one else he could possibly send that picture to.

And all the sneaky looks and smiles at the reunion. WHEN THEY FINALLY PLAYED THEIR SONG TOGETHER WITHOUT INTERRUPTION! I loved it!!

So yes, when Pat was on the phone complaining about not having eaten enough, it had to be Pran he was talking to. But I still squealed when he opened the door and there was Pran casually smirking away. And then cue all the fluffiness and me getting all the cavities.

When the director credits showed up after the tin can-phone scene, I was confused. Cos that felt too abrupt. So I was so glad that there was another proper ending, AND GOSH WAS IT A PERFECT ENDING! PRAN WAS SUCH A SMOOTH MOFO! It ended in a perfect way for them. That competitiveness, that playfulness, that comfortability with each other. THE WAY PRAN JUST JUMPED ON PAT?! I loved it. I am so very happy and I still have not stopped smiling.

Bad Buddy Episode 11 rant. Let’s go.

Honestly after that preview, I’ve kinda forgotten 3/4 of the episode. All I rmb now is the ep12 preview (WHICH I HATE), and the problems with the subs. It was a great episode, but it’s just a tad bit tainted now. 😔 Also way too many tears in one episode. We did get a mixture of happy, sad, relieved, worried tears, but still nooooo.

1) Was totally not expecting a runaway situation. I genuinely thought it was a tiny getaway to escape the current stress. Like a “let’s have this weekend just for ourselves before we get back and tackle our parent’s drama”. So that threw me off. But either way I’m glad they got the chance to be themselves and not worry about things for a tiny bit.

2) Was totally not expecting to be judged for my bubble tea and food deliveries. I am trying to be more conscious though. Even got a reusable bubble tea mug and straw for work!

3) Pran finally had his love declaration. The way he shows love to Pat has always been (significant but) tiny whispers, so the fact that he actually did something so loud, I LOVE IT!!

4) I’m not sure if they have some hidden scenes from this ep that will only be shown next week, but I just wished Pran was a bit more honest with Pat. He clearly was missing his mum and was more inclined to go back than Pat was. And I think Pat also knew that and was ready to accept it and not judge him for it. So it is disheartening to see that he did the same with Pat, as what he always does. He hid his emotions and thoughts and just went along with Pat’s plan. Because that’s what he always has been told to do, follow what his mum says. For a couple that have had such open communication so far, I was sad to see that happen in this episode. This was the moment the communication was crucial. Because they are totally on different pages and there is so much hanging on the line.

5) I mean they kept calling it their honeymoon, so we all knew that it was going to happen right?? They made it so soft, with Pran being the creepy person who stares at their partner sleep. (Was not expecting that) And then the panic when Pat wakes up alone and goes to find Pran… The soft smile Pran gives and Pat’s teary eyes when he has that realization, that wake up call when reality hits, it was brutal.

6) I JUST WISH THAT WHEN PRAN WENT UP TO THAT STAGE TO PLAY HIS SONG, IT MEANT THAT HE MADE HIS CHOICE! It felt like he has always stayed away from playing the guitar because in his mind that was the reason he was sent away. The guitar reminds him of his mum’s disapproval and how he was upheaved from the life he knew and thrown into a new place. So the fact that he finished the song and readily went to play it, I thought he was choosing Pat, he was choosing himself and his dreams and his passion. SO WHY DID WE HAVE ALL THAT EP12 PREVIEW?? Also, with the whole junior and his mum parallel, what was the point? Please tell me we are missing a puzzle piece? Tell me that there was a scene that we were not shown, that will appear in the next episode. Tell me that it made Pran realise that his mum (at the end of the day) has his interest at heart and so will finish his uni education and then set off to live his truth.

7) WE GOT INKPHA AND WAIKORN?!?! No complaints, but for the love of god PatPran has to have a happy ending!! Otherwise nothing else matters.

8) The ending of ep11 was honestly so good! I was watching it with my fingers covering my mouth and just shaking in my bed. That montage of what could have been was so heartwarming. And of course my heart just plunged down from 1000 to -10000 in a split second when we got to the preview.

I’m just really hoping that Ep 12 goes in either one of two ways. Firstly we get something like ATOTS where they both mutually agree to take a break while they finish their education, with the full intention of getting back together after graduating when they have more freedom and are able to support themselves. Or they just get really better at hiding their relationship. I will not be accepting any other ending. Even if they decide to go down a season 2 route, please have a happy resolution.
