As it did and they locked eyes, Steve blurted it out before he lost the nerve."Say you do not care for me. Say you feel nothing, and I will walk away."
Nancy couldn’t look at him, her eyes drifted down. Anywhere but him. She wanted to shout at him, tell him that he meant nothing.
But she couldn’t.
Because she would not only be lying to him, but to herself also.
Of course he meant something to her, of course she cared. Steve was her first love. There was no arguing that. He was her first love, and to be honest. She never stopped loving him.
Her eyes lift, tears filling them up as she looked at him.
“Don’t make me choose anything Steve. Don’t do that to me.” She said, her eyes filling with sadness.
“You know I can’t say that.” She added.
