Assam Baddis Badis assamensis

A fish found in the Brahmaputra River basin in Assam state, northeast India. These fish are found in slow-moving streams with stagnant, brownish water and a sandy substrate conducive to the growth of water lilies. The species can also be inhabitants of forested areas with overhanging trees along the water banks.

Scarlet Badis (Dario dario)

...a small species of chameleonfish (Badidae) that is thought to be restricted to the tributary systems draining into the Brahmaputra River in parts of West Bengal and Assam states of India. However, it is also thought to range into Bhutan as well. Scarlet badis typically inhabit shallow, clear water streams with sand or gravel substrates and dense growths of marginal and/or aquatic vegetation. D. dario is a “micropredator” feeding on a range of small aquatic crustaceans, worms, insect larvae and other zooplankton. It has also found its way into the aquarium trade and has become quite popular.
