Badminton: Saina readies for Malaysian Open after Korea loss

Saina is now getting ready for the Malaysian Open Superseries after her quarter final loss in the Korean open last week. She will face Juan Gu of Singapore on Wednesday. Ajay Jayaram, Jwala Gutta, Ashwini Ponnappa and V. Diju will also be seen in action in the Malaysian Open. (Source: IBN live)

After a quarter-final finish at Korea last week, India's ace shuttler Saina Nehwal will now set her sights on the Malaysia Super Series, which begins with the qualifiers in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Fourth seed Saina will clash with Juan Gu of Singapore on Wednesday in the women's singles competition and is expected to reach at least the quarter-final stage.

On way to the quarter-finals, the Indian is likely to face resistance from Chinese Taipei's Shao Chieh Cheng and fifth seed Tine Baun or Xin Liu of China.

Badminton: Indian Challenge ends in French Open Super Series

Saina Nehwal, Ajay Jayaram and the doubles pair of Ashwini and Jwala all lost their respective games in the the French Open Super Series. Saina fought hard against China's Xuerui Li but could not go past her.

India's Saina Nehwal fought hard but could not go past China's Xuerui Li, bowing out of the second round of the French Open Super Series badminton in ParissSaina, seeded fourth, lost 18-21, 29-30 in a match Thursday lasting 48 minutes. India's campaign in the tournament got over with Ajay Jayaram losing in the men's singles and Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa in the women's doubles. Jayaram lost 19-21, 14-21 to sixth-seed Chinese Jin Chen in 46 minutes. In the women's doubles, Jwala and Ashwini lost to sixth-seeded South Koreans Jung Eun Ha and Min Jung Kim 13-21, 12-21.

Badminton: Diju and Jwala lose out in Semis

Mixed doubles pairing of Jwala and Diju lost their Semi final match against the Koreans, bringing an end to the Indian Challenge in the tournament. Saina Nehwal had earlier lost her Quarterfinal match against the Chinese top seed, reports IBN Live.

Indian mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V Diju squandered a game lead to go down fighting against Koreans Yeon Seong Yoo and Ye Na Jang in the semifinal of China Masters Super Series at Changzhou on Saturday. Jwala and Diju lost the semifinal match 6-21 21-19 21-19 in a 53-minute thrilling contest. With the ouster of Jwala nd Diju, the Indian campaign in top tournament ended. Ace Indian Saina Nehwal had lost to top seed Yihan Wang of China in the women's singles quarterfinals on Friday.

Saina Nehwal and the mixed doubles pair of Diju and Jwala made it to the quarter finals of the China Masters Super Series. Times of India says that Saina survived a scare. Another Indian, P Kashyap, lost his second round match against second seed Dane Peter Gade.

Indian ace Saina Nehwal survived a mighty scare from unheralded Ayane Kurihara of Japan before advancing to the quarterfinals of China Masters Super Series badminton tournament in Changzhou on Thursday. The fifth seed Indian saw off unseeded Kurihara 21-11, 18-21, 27-25 in a marathon women's singles encounter that lasted for one hour and 12 minutes at the Xincheng Gymnasium. She will next take on top seed Chinese Yihan Wang on Friday. V Diju and Jwala Gutta also notched up a 21-19, 21-17 win over Yong Dae Lee and Jung Eun Ha of Korea in a 34-minute second round clash in the mixed doubles competition. The Indian duo will next take on Robert Blair of Scotland and English Gabrielle White in the quarterfinals on Friday. However, Parupalli Kashyap was not as lucky as he ran into second seed Dane Peter Hoeg Gade and lost 21-18, 21-15 in 45 minutes in the men's singles. India's top men's doubles pair of Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas also could not cross the second round hurdle and suffered a 13-21, 9-21 loss to fourth seeds Sung Hyun Ko and Yeon Seong Yoo of Korea in just 24 minutes.

Badminton: Mixed day for India at China Masters Super Series

The doubles pair of Ashwini and Jwala lose their first round while Saina made it to the second round of the China Masters Super Series tournament in Changzhou, reports Indian Express.

Saina Nehwal enjoyed a easy first round at the China Masters badminton tournament as she breezed past compatriot — Aditi Mutatkar — on Wednesday. Indian hopes however received a setback after the World Championships bronze medalist pairing of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa suffered an upset 19-21, 21-15, 21-23 loss to the unseeded Chinese pairing of Xia Huan and Junhua Tang.

The same article goes on to mention that the mixed doubles pair of Jwala and Diju and P Kashyap also made it to the second round.

Jwala however won her opening round mixed doubles match partnering V Diju. The duo initially suffered an embarrassing 5-21 defeat in the first game against their Chinese opponents Tao Jiaming and Qing Tian before bouncing back 21-14 and 21-18 in the next two games. P Kashyap also advanced to the second round winning a relatively tough three game encounter against England’s Rajiv Ouseph. Anand Pawar, Guru Sai Dutt, Arundhati Pantawane and PC Thulasi however all suffered straight-sets losses to bow out of the tournament.

Badminton: Indian Challenge ends in Vietnam Open

The Indian challenge in the Vietnam Grand Prix came to an end in the men's semifinals. The report from Times of India says that both Ajay Jayaram and Gurusaidutt could not rise to the occasion and get past the higher ranked opponents.

The Indian shuttlers' challenge at Vietnam Grand Prix came to an end with Ajay Jayaram and Gurusaidutt crashing out in the men's singles semifinals in Ho Chih Minh city on Saturday. Pitted against the higher ranked opponents both Jayaram and Gurusaidutt failed to rise to the occasion though the former did put up a spirited fight before going down in three games. Jayaram began well against the second seed and World No. 9 Japanese Sho Sasaki by winning the first game with ease at 21-12. The early success had raised hopes of another upset but the gritty Japanese fought his way back strongly to shatter the hopes of the No. 5 seeded Indian. Earlier, Gurusaidutt was no match against Nguyen in the first semifinal. The young Indian, seeded No. 12, managed to garner just 14 points as the local star raced to 21-5, 21-9 in just half an hour.
