BAD OMENS - How they hit 3.8 million views in the first 24 hours. Theory on how Concrete Jungle is connected to the music video “Specter”
Happy September 2nd everyone!
Hi hello. It’s me. I’m back.
I’m actually pretty happy that Bad Omens is doing a very great run through to new music. Also the blue is so ✨ Nostalgic ✨
Love that for them. Welcome back to another blog post. This time, I took my time to actually really think about posting. I’m actually glad this is actually a pretty positive post. Now let’s dive into Bad Omens new music video “Specter”
I’m curious to what they mean by that song. There’s so much out there that we don’t actually know. The harmony, the rhythm, and the way it sounds. It’s melancholy. It’s eccentric. Electronic. Folio really put in the work to make those drum beats sound really good! I’m actually very impressed. They sound so crisp and smooth.
We also can’t forget Jolly and Nick hitting those strings. What surprises me about their music video is the way they put in the time and effort into something very beautiful. Something very different than their “The Death of Peace of Mind.” Era. It’s speaking changes. Speaking volumes. I think I now believe on what Noah mentioned. You can actually create different kinds of music through melody. It really shows Noah’s ability and talent to go far and beyond the traditional metal music bands put out there.
I have seen a lot of speculation and theories out there that suggest or imply that Noah was telling his side of the story through therapy. What our minds can go through, and how they feel through something either traumatic. Something people struggle in mental health. I’m not saying this is a bad thing. Our “Death” means transformation. We need to shed our past to reflect. To me this theory could be possible.
My theory is that when Concrete Jungle ended as “Goodbye Friend” maybe it actually meant something else. It wasn’t about finding the solution to Poppy’s “Violence against Nature”.
But how does it connect? Guys, I don’t know. But my theory and thoughts could possibly navigate into this world and lore where Bad Omens comes to play out.
Theory #1
Let’s start where I started off with their symbol known as Death.
Now Specter, we see these images where death appears in every form and every aspect. In the music video, we open up to see a therapist and a boy talking about if the boy in this case the character asks if he could leave.
Of course he can leave. But at what cost and what risk? Therapy is a well known term in psychology where we see in how the boy struggles to cope. That could either be in a position where he’s too afraid or too anxious to keep going.
But we also see it in Violence Against Nature. Where Poppy is trying to make sense in where she is and how the scientists are picking her as something far off than human.
Do you see where I’m going with this?
Theory #2
1. Find Peace
So there has been a lot of discussion on Concrete Jungle. Many of us don’t like it due to many reasons. Many of us have a better understanding to this vinyl version they came out with. It’s very opinionated.
So what if Specter actually comes in not just as a new song in general but finding peace? Finding a moment in life to actually feel that you are at peace with something?
“Do you feel love?”
“Something you’re missing made you who you were.”
These two song lyrics. I think they’re part of a major reason. What if, it’s not something we can feel emotionally? What if it’s something that we want to fill? An insatiable desire?
Well I think insatiable desire and feeling like we can’t express ourselves emotionally is a little off the rock, but when we’re trying to find something to set our minds into, it speaks in very different forms.
Specter not only has different themes going on, but we also see melancholy aspects. It could be that he’s directing the viewer to see themselves. To see past the events, what we truly need to transform and change, in order to grow.
So in this new song, to me it sounded like they recycled part of their old instrumentals. This is called rhythm layering. Which is actually so inspiring. I actually wonder how they did it. It has so much depth, so much ability to sound very different than their previous work. It flows so neatly, and so well cleaned out. That I admire.
I am not sure how long Bad Omens has been out there as a band, but it sure says something about Noah Sebastian. So believe me, his tenor voice is far beyond anything. The way he changes his tune in this song is progression. The ability he can adapt to any sound movement and any type of sound through music. It’s very indescribable.
SPECTER THEMED MERCH
So I think this is just coincidence, but on Reddit a lot of people have been talking about Specter. One comment I saw was that if they came out with a Specter themed version of merch they would surely buy it. I don’t know what kind of deal you had with the devil, but they heard you. That’s surprising and impressive.
So. In the next 3 days. They are putting out a 72 hour pre-order notice. That’s impressive. Also I’m happy they are changing it out! It feels so different than the Concrete Jungle merch we’ve been seeing for the past few years.
It’s a change! bad omens merch comes this Friday @5pm

Let’s head into my final theory
Theory #3
1. Clear Mind.
Specter not only has many things going on. But in Concrete Jungle. Clear mind?
What if Specter is trying to tell us to find meaning in life? Clearing our own thoughts into creating?
Into seeing the bigger picture than we actually see through it?
Like Noah stated. “Can you finally see yourself?”
This isn’t just a song. It’s a revolution.
He’s making us look through the bad, in order to see the good.
