I just refuse to accept any arguments of "people are blowing it out of proportion because ASHLYN HARRIS said that. People love to hate her." And I'm just like no. No. I wouldn't accept comments like that from anyone whether they're my favorite all time footballer or not. It's not okay for someone who is supposed to be in a position of authority. People need to understand just because your fave did something shitty doesn't make that thing not shitty

Yes, finally someone who can have an intelligent conversation about this. Who is Ashlyn to single out individual players? Regardless of what the interviewer asks you? Individual play doesn't fucking matter when you're a team. Win or lose everything is a team effort. So for her to say "if she's not scoring she's not doing anything for me" is completely devaluing the team aspect. Not "she's not doing anything for the team" but "she's not doing anything for me" What captain is that selfish.

the real interesting part is how she commented several times during the orlando presser about how she’s captain bc she’s “all about the team” and “team first”

ashlyn may be a decent person, a nice person, a kind hearted person. whatever virtues people seek her out for. but she’s also self absorbed and its extremely obvious on and off the field. no one player should call out their teammates like that, and as a goalkeeper she should be aware that she is responsible for organizing her back line and putting her players into positions to help keep the ball out of the net, like that’s a legit part of the position - not just “showing up and making a few saves”
