anyone just done looking into what we thought was great details in the show only to find out it was meaningless. like none of it mattered, esp not to the writer the last few eps.
hello! this is like the first anon ask i’ve ever gotten but literally yes. the writer truly wrote such amazing details and then decided none of them were meaningful so we’re left grasping at remnants of a coherent plot line and the characters are left reaching out to try to fix it and clutching each other as tight as they possibly can. the writer truly fucked up at the end. she changed the characters to fit her narrative instead of changing the ending to fit the characters growth and arc. she lost sense of what the clear messages were throughout the show and she threw what was one of the most beautiful shows i’ve ever seen down the toilet because she couldn’t listen to anyone. the fact that taeri asked for the ending to be changed and wasn’t listened to makes my heart ache because she lived and breathed life into heedo so she knows what the character feels and how things should play out. the fact that joohyuk also hasn’t said anything about the drama yet shows me he’s not the happiest about the ending either. i truly believe those characters would make different decisions than the ones we see them make.
that is all to say i fucking cant bring myself to accept the ending no matter what anyone else says. i don’t see how it makes sense. if the goal was “realism,” first of all misery isn’t always realism and in real life people fight for relationships and make long distance work all the time. secondly, that could’ve been the ending if it was written better. the plot begged for a happy ending with two angels who worked so hard for everything they got in life. they were each other’s strongest support systems and it hurts me that the writer did what she did.
in my canon, those characters hold on to each until they can piece everything back together. they fix their issues and they continue to love and support each other. all we see throughout the show is two people who love each other as easily as the air flows into their lungs. they look at each other, especially yijin at heedo, like the other hung up the stars in the night sky, like they’re the sun that brings them warmth every day. they love each other. they would make it work. i hate that the writer did what she did because the viewers deserved better, the actors deserved to be listened to, but most of all, those characters deserved a happy ending for all the pain and suffering they went through. and no one, not a single soul on planet earth, can convince me that heedo is happy at the end. if you don’t see her misery in her eyes, you’re not looking at her
