legs shaking, lip licking and stares never left the floor. it would be a lie if joohyuk said he wasn't nervous, i mean, who wouldn't be? a stranger's about to cut his gums open to get some teeth out and pain will knock him over like a bicycle crumpled on the ground because a truck backed into it. he sat in the waiting room, quiet and patiently but his heart raced a million miles. his friend suji wasn't much help considering she sat to his right, staring at her phone and fingers whizzed by, tackling the colorful balloons with a bow and arrow, never beating her high score.
his hands were balled up into fists, shoved down into his jacket pocket and he closed his eyes momentarily before they flashed open at the sound of his name being called. "nam joohyuk." the assistant said. his feet stopped shaking, his tongue stopped halfway on his bottom lip while it was grazing and his friend smacked the side of his head and gestured him to get up when she cocked her head towards the middle aged lady. he slowly straightened his knees, looked at the floor with a heavy heart and sluggishly moved across the room where the worker silently stood.
the seat was oddly uncomfortable and he waited patiently for the dentist to arrive. the assistant went to retrieve suji and there she was, seating in the single seat across the room from him.
"yah, stop playing on your phone and help me calm down, i'm about to pee my pants here."
