FYI to followers

Changed the name of my blog to better reflect the broader focus. I’ll still be posting art only at bahstudios.tumblr.com for anyone who follows me for my art may want to update their watchlist. There probably won’t be much on it until I draw something next; don’t really have the time to repost things from here, so I’ll likely just save it for new things.

As an American, it never ceases to amuse me seeing “‘Murica” … it’s even my preferred way of referring to my country. xD

I like to abbreviate my own country's name from Malaysia to Mesia :D

Yes! That’s the exact picture I’m talking about. I wish I could find a copy of it. Looks sooo different from the final game. I know, whew! Been quite a haul for us old timer fans, huh? :)

I wish I could find it, because comparing what it looks in the initial stages in comparison to now would be like night and day!

I was very interested when it was first announced since it marks the first time BW intended to develop a completely new IP (having done D&D and Star Wars licences up to then, iirc); Of course Jade Empire and Mass Effect preceded it, but still! I was (and still am) more of a sword & sorcery fantasy fan, so I'm already invested in DA by default .

"This is gonna be something big!" I thought, unsuspectingly back then.

*looks at piles of fan art solely dedicated to DA*

I remember being enraptured in NWN and Bioware first announcing Dragon Age. Even remember their original blog-like site with a handful of early production screencaps. xD And I remember it not updating FOREVER and worrying the game wouldn’t come out.

IKR? I remember they posted two orange-y screenshots labeled DRAGON AGE this one time years ago, with a barbarian-like dude and a redheaded woman in skimpy blue armour wielding a staff (proto-Morrigan?). I think BW just won Most Anticipated Game for it or something by either E3 or one of those bigger game mags.

And then total silence. For yeaaaaaars.

Now here we are, 8-10 years later, 3rd installment coming out in less than two months :)

Yeah, I feel you. Even though I’m job hunting again, I still don’t have as much time to hammer out hours upon hours in BG like I did when I was a teenager. Damn I feel old.

Ooooh yeah. I used to be able to power through FF7, KOTOR, KOTOR 2, and Jade Empire in a week or less like a champ circa 1997-2006. Now, I can't even get started on a chapter of a Telltale game without hearing The Ghost of Workload Present laying down the guilt on me ;_;

This is why on BG replays, I’m usually like, “Fuck it, hax” and just use the cheat console to insta kill if combat becomes too grindy. :P I’ve played the BG series so many times now that I prefer to just for the story and not worry about combat.

Yes, this is something to consider after I finish the main playthrough. Huge games are huge, and my free time not so much ;3;

Hope Bioware will put the cards on the table sooner than later, because personally I'm not appreciating the effect it's having on fans for the sake of whatever their marketing strategy is.
