I personally like tribalstuck. But I like it more when people actually research the tribe they are planning on relating to a character and not using words such as "savage" and "primal". It can be culturally educating if people research before they just draw or cosplay things. Your opinion? Does it still count as racist even with research and respect to that tribe?
You know, you bring up a good point, but it’s such a touchy subject, you know? Yes, I do feel if it was carefully researched and planned out (and given a different name, like apocalypse!lock or something…) It could possibly be interesting and harmless.
The way it was brought about was not the case though. It was brought forth in such an ignorant, uneducated manner that it was blatantly racist. Basically the artists threw on an outfit and came up with a backstory afterwords, which is like going to a halloween store, picking up a “costume" of a “native american" or “gypsy", throwing it on, and calling yourself Esmerelda or Sacajawea.
It’s basically what happened with the new Lone Ranger film. What started out as something that had a lot of potential to actually shed some positive, factual light on a beautiful culture, only spit on it with layer after layer of racist stereotype.
In short, yeah, it had potential to be very likeable, but ended up being totally uncool.
