This is MOMMY.
The picture at top was after I brought her home. The bottom picture is of her in the shelter. They NEVER said she was agressive in their ad, for fear she would not get adopted.
MOMMY was abused by backyard breeders and dog-fighters.
At only the age of 1 year, she could no longer produce puppies (that they took away from her after every litter and after being put in a rape so many times), then she was dumpped like trash on the side of the road.
Then, dog fighters found her and made her a bait dog. A bait dog is one that is tied or chained, and they set their fighting dogs on them. Bait dogs are NOT trained to fight so they are at the mercy of fighting dogs. The only thing a bait dog can do is try to defend themselves.
The fighting ring was broke up in Philadelphia, and many charged with animal cruelty. But, Mommy was held in a shelter as evidence for 2 years, in a tiny cage. She bit the cage bars a lot in those 2 years, and when I rescued her, she had to have many teeth removed because of this.
She she also had incontinence because of having been bred so much. So she was on medication for thhat the rest of her life. She had a lot of scars all over her body and face, and had almost lost an eye.
The shelter told me she had to be the only dog at home. But, MOMMY was a total sweetheart and after all she had been through. She had every right to be agressive and hate people after what had happened to her, but she a lovebug to everyone, except that is, men. I figured it was men who had abused her. There was only one man she trusted and that was my boyfriend at the time.
MOMMY had some issues though, trouble trusting people for awhile, but it soon disintigrated. Then the very sad day came, MOMMY was very ill. I took her to the hospital and they diagnosed her with IBD. She was sick from then on, in and out of hopitals, and on plenty of meds the rest of her life.
I lost her January, 2019. RIP MOMMY 2009-2019
Now. For those of you who think the ‘Pitbull Type’ Breed is totally an agressive, mean breed, you don’t know nothin! MOMMY, in spite of everything that happened to her, all the abuse, still loved people, I can’t say that for people. It’s never about the dog, they are trained and/or bred to be that way, if at all.
It’s ALWAYS the responsibilty of the owners. Quit blaming these dogs, blame their owners!
STOP with discrimination and BSL!
