Sharing the classics.
I have a problem. I like pushing anime on people, and not just for their benefit. It may sound cheesy and I’m usually suspicious of people who overuse the sentiment, but I just get a great feeling by helping someone find an anime series that they enjoy. I started the Anime Salvage Yard because I couldn’t find decent uploads of OVAs that I wanted to share with friends who are...less than willing to jump onto watching something for whatever reason. So a YouTube link makes things easier. What I’m uploading is anime that lacks a license in my country (USA) or lacks copies that can be easily shared. It’s not monetized--not that I’m not a greedy Capitalist-raised struggle puddle, but I’m following the rules because why scrape coin THAT desperately--and I credit the creators and subtitle project teams. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2HCVOH6DtA The first Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou OVA is what started the channel. The newer OVA called Quiet Country Cafe is all over the place and can still be bought quite easily. My copy is from Boxtorrents, now BakaBT. The older one? VHS/LD is an aesthetic now, but I’m an older millennial and I don’t want to pop in any tapes for conversion until I have a few copies. Torrents are a good enough option for me right now. I’m going to try to find other series that were worth a watch and lack a license, or at least lack easy ways to buy. I’m open to distributors and anime studios that tell me to stop, since it’s an honest mistake if I missed a recent acquisition or something that isn’t being marketed. In which case COME ON, SELL IT TO US ALREADY.
