Anybody who follows Kodzuken knows a simple fact of the matter: Kozume Kenma adores apple pie. In a majority of his streams, there's a plate of the dessert tucked somewhere slightly off-screen, or a forkful in his mouth as he silently games. Fans have even made it a "Where's Waldo" event, with videos ranging from three to thirty minute compilations of Kodzuken's apple pie. Interviewers either steered clear of the typical favorite dessert question or greeted him with a steaming slice of the treat. The source behind his love of apple pie was unknown to most. Only those closest to Kenma knew that source was you.

It began back in high school, back when Kenma still played volleyball often and you studied for final exams like passing them was your only goal in life.

During a study session, Kenma mentioned he was craving apple pie, vaguely offhandedly and under-his-breath. The next day, you showed up to school with a beaming smile and a small tin of apple pie.

Kenma knew his heart was screwed over then.

He accepted the pie with a small thanks, torn between the decision to devour the dessert or keep it in his pocket just so he could have a piece of you with him at all times.

He ended up eating the pie later that day, after volleyball practice ended, his muscles all sore and his energy depleted. He texted you that night to thank you and to tell you to hop online so you could game together.

Kenma asked you out a few months later, in a quiet muffled whisper in the back of the library. You said yes, of course, and the rest was history.

Now, Kenma only played volleyball on rare occasions, and mostly dedicated his time to streaming or to being with you, and the only studying you did was practice cooking for culinary exams, but some things didn't change.

Kenma still loved apple pie and Kenma still loved you.

"Hey chat," Kenma said with a nod and a wave. If any fan listened close, they could hear the clutter of cooking from the kitchen. They wouldn't know it was you necessarily, but they'd know someone was there. Kodzuken's fans knew you existed in the same way they know Kuroo; they know you know each other and have known each other since high school but that's about all.

Kenma games quietly, occasionally speaking to the stream and reading comments. One message cracked a smile onto his lips as he read it out loud: "where's your apple pie, Kodzuken?"

Kenma's gaze shifts to his door, just as a knock comes from the other side. "Kenma? Are you streaming already?"

"Yeah, but come in," Kenma responds, clicking his mic off. His chat watched in vague confusion, wondering who he was talking to. The door opens and you walk in.

Onscreen, Kenma's mouth moves silently as he speaks to you. You laugh, head tilted back. You set down the plate of apple pie you held, gesturing in some sort of explanation accompanied with rolled eyes. Kenma smiles softly, lips shaping out the phrase "thank you". You kiss his cheek quickly before leaving.

Kenma turns his mic back on and chat explodes. He scans the incoming messages, but answers none of the questions. Instead, he tries a bite of the pie. He calls your name down the hall. "It's good! Thank you!"

"Of course Ken!" comes your voice from the kitchen.

Kenma returns his attention to the stream. Questions and comments flood his chat, but only one sticks out: "is she the reason you love apple pie?"

"Yeah," Kenma answers, "she is."

The next morning, Kenma's trending on almost every social media platform. "Apple Pie Lover Boy," some deemed him. You laughed after showing him the nickname.

"What do you think lover boy?" You tease.

Kenma leans into your side, tin of apple pie abandoned on his lap. "Only you can call me that."

Kenma loved apple pie, that much was true. And now, everyone knew he loved you too.
