Commission for a lovely over on twitter :)
I've seen a lot of people complain about the insensitivity of the international fans who still wanted Bakugou's hero name to be GZ.
No need to be condescending. The easy explanation is that people may not know. Another explanation is the fact that the name has been around forever, and I've barely seen any complaints from international fans, those mostly tied to 9/11, which doesn't really track since the original name would've been "Bakushinchi" and therefore, have no actual correlation.
I'd never seen any complaints from Japanese fans either, until very recently, that being from only one account. Which leads me to believe it wasn't this controversial name everyone was against. Not to say those who objected to it, however few of them there may be, are any less valid. It's important to recognize the sensitivity of the issue.
What I have seen from Japanese twitter users following the name reveal was that most of them, while happy with the name and finding it hilarious, were mourning GZ and complaining about how they'd have to change all of their fics now. Just the same as international fans, really. Seems like a lot of them were hoping for it, too. My guess is, Horikoshi simply didn't want to take the risk of another backlash, despite the low risk.
I'm not against Dynamight/Dynamite. Tbh I really love it, and I have a feeling I'll love it even more once we get Bakugou's reasons for choosing it but my God, I hope he drops the introductory part or I'll never remember it, wtf bakugou😂
But Bakushinchi/Ground Zero was a good name, with in-universe impact. Let's not act like fans are being insensitive assholes for being disappointed unless they really are acting like assholes about it. Let people get used to the new name at their own pace.
And if any Japanese fans are reading this, I'd love to hear your opinion on this. How well does the twitter fandom reflect the opinions of other Japanese fans? Do you think it would've been an offensive name?
Happy birthday Bakugou Katsuki!

I decided I'll use "爆心地" / Ground Zero since it might be his hero name which was written in an old concept sketch.
Finally done with this. Time to start working on to All Might and Todoroki.
Sketches of SmAll Might and Lord Explosion Murder + broken things. Decided to finish this while waiting.
