Iza had been on her way to find Sora when the lady appeared with her mysterious announcement. The woman's words had a strange effect on her and she felt a little dizzy. "Too much champagne..." she murmured to herself. Her eyes searched the crowd again for Sora. But then the lights went out and she had a slight moment of panic. When they relit, the room seemed changed, and so was she, but she had no idea of it. She was the Duchess of Kaua'i and always had been and she was here at the event of the season in the finest gown from the House of Worth. It had cost a small fortune but then, she could well afford it.
Another quick scan of the room and she saw her husband and quickly rushed over. "Oh darling! There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you!" She smiled and waved her fan at him as she approached. "Where have you been hiding?" She was all a twitter about the events of the ball, the selection of fine sweets, and the latest fashions she'd seen on the other guests. "Have you seen what the Viscountess is wearing? I would never have picked that color, but.. well," she waved her fan in a 'you know' sort of manner before attaching herself to his arm. "Have you seen the prince yet?" She scanned the crowd. "Have you had the champagne? I overheard it was shipped from Paris especially for tonight. I must get the name of their supplier... Have you seen the Viscount? I was thinking perhaps we should invite them to our estate for the summer, he's terribly nice."
When she paused for a breath, she noted that he'd been unusually quiet. "Is something the matter my love? You haven't been quarreling with the Count again, have you? He always puts you in a foul humor. Come, would a dance with your beautiful wife cheer you up?" She gave him her sweetest smile and flicked her fan open, hiding all but her eyes, so she might bat her lashes at him.
