While we made the decision to go bald, we were also dwelling in thoughts of giving some hair off to god and some to NGO’s who support cancer patients who need the hair more than anyone else. . I did get suggestions on who and how this could be done @sheenareddymakeup & @vithyahairandmakeup did help me in the whole process but however, that did not materialise. The policy at Tirupati is that you can’t bring the hair from there and hand it else where. As in, once you give it there, it’s considered as offered to god And you cannot collect some of it and bring it out to donate to any other organisation. However, they allow you to give some parts of the hair...called the panchamudi offering, where you give to the lord only 5 strands from the head and then come back from Tirupati & donate to any organisation you would like to support for the purpose. So, yeah...maybe if i was better informed, I could have done it too. . Nonetheless, as much as I feel for the cause, I am also satisfied with what I did and have absolutely no regrets. Going Bald : the reason behind this was truly spiritual. My home deity is the very famous, #lordvenkateshwara & it’s a ritual for people to offer their hair to the god there both to seek blessings and also most times in return for something very dear to them. My purpose was kind of an in between thing. It was seek blessings and also in exchange for peace of mind. . While I was at a point of deciding on it, there was a whole lot commotion in the head. I would be lying if I didn’t mention that there were indeed Thoughts of how I would be received, thoughts on how people will view me now, thoughts that were anything but uplifting...however, There also came a point when it hit me that, this is not for anyone else who meets me or watches me...this is for the god and for me and just between us, that realisation was a point when I hit that no looking back moment and went ahead with and did what I did. My husband & I did it together. The whole process of deciding to offer, offering & then after which,when we went and stood in front of the almighty, the feeling that we got and the connection that we made with the lord was unparalleled to any other emotion I was earlier going through. That moment will surely be recorded as one of the best moments of my life. It was SUREAL . Believe me, the response, the support and the love I got from every single person around me, family, friends, friends of friends and from social media & just about everywhere was something I didn’t imagine to receive. Now imagine, If I had only sat down worrying about the response I would receive from others, would I have experienced that surreal connection with the almighty??? We always do stop ourselves from doing so many many things that we would be really passionate about only with the fear of the words “how will we be received” ....I killed that fear for myself.
