#balealake is situated at an altitude of 2034m on the world's most famous road: #transfagarasan. Max depth is arround 11m and during the winter it is completely frozen and covered by few meters of snow. Even if the #transfăgărășan road is closed, you can still get to this lake with a cable car which run all year long. In the summer you can camp arround the lake. Balea Lake represents the highest point of the Transfagarasan road (2042 m), the second highest road in Romania (after Transalpina). The oldest document certifying the mountain climbing in Balea region was recorded around 1700 by Dr. G. Lidner.
