Surprisingly, it's not the first vampire ballerina I've watched. This one, however, took the cake on exciting. Hilarious chase scenes, super gory makeup and effects, exciting deaths, and likable characters, Abigail truly has it all. Over its nearly 2 hour runtime, you have a chance to fall in love with every character, making each death more exciting and high stakes. It certainly doesn't hurt that this film has a star-studded cast, including a former final Melissa Barrera. The abundance of one-liners kept the mood light and had myself and my partner laughing. And Holy moly, did they live up to the 18A rating. Once tye blood started coming, it did not let up till the curtains rolled. Gallons must have been used to create certain scenes, making it one of the more gory movies I've personally seen. I absolutely loved the dance scene where it cut between Abigail living her best life and Sammy no longer able to do anything but be her puppet. It was such a powerful scene. Perhaps I'm a little biased, though, because I do have the biggest crush on Kathryn Newton. If you're looking for a horror comedy to blow your socks off, it has to be this one. It's a must-see before it leaves the big screen not only for the things listed above but also for a little girl doing perowites and spins while chasing down a bunch of grown adults.
