Balloon at dawn “Girls around the gate” (Translation)
I’ve been obsessed with this song. The band recently posted the lyrics on their twitter, so I wanted to translate it. Interestingly, the lyrics aren’t written in lines and stanzas, but as paragraphs, so I chose to do this as well. This band also has a tumblr!
It was the day the winter-blooming flowers wilted and fell. I wanted to read my fortune with my hand, numb from the cold. My hair, undone and wet from snow, was a color I didn’t recognize when placed under the sun.
It’s fine if the days that have passed, or the last of those days, were just a blink of an eye. The sunlight that shined down on an empty school, somehow, is like a searchlight.
It was the day I put together all the winter-blooming flowers. Eyes cast down, I sat at my desk. I didn’t care about the possibilities extending from there, because I won’t be there.
It’s fine if the days that have passed, or the last of those days, were just a blink of an eye. The day we talked at our empty school, somehow, is like a searchlight.
It’s fine if the days that have passed, or the last of those days, were just a blink of an eye. Those days at an empty school, where nothing comes to my mind, is still like a searchlight. It’s fine if the days that have passed, or the last of those days, were just a blink of an eye. My fleeing, to somewhere alone, continues inside the beam of a searchlight.
Among the winter-blooming flowers, I opened my hand. I still haven’t been able to test my fortune.
