How long had she been trapped here? Days? Weeks? It hardly mattered. Time ran together, days blurring together. She wasn't allowed out of the room without supervision. Couldn't even use the bathroom without someone there to keep an eye on her. Everyone seemed wary around her, looking at her differently. Not that she could blame them. She would look at her differently too. The worst part about all of this wasn't the way her sides wailed in pain when ever she moved, it was that she hadn't seen Loren since.
She knew it would be different. He'd seen the chaos and horrors magic and illusions could create. He'd seen what evil she could do. He'd only see her as a witch. She didn't blame him. She couldn't. She'd have the same opinion. But, after knowing each other as long as they have, she thought maybe he'd be different.... Apparently not.
Selene was so miserable. Her body hurt, her heart ached. She missed Loren. She missed the way his dark hair was always so messy. She missed the way he always smelled of warm coffee and pine. She missed the way his long fingers were always smudged with blue ink. And she missed the way he spoke, soft French accent, gently spoken English. She was so lonely.
Most of her time had been spent staring at Catsby. The devil cat always stared back. She couldn't deal with that today. She had to see why Loren hadn't come to see her. She knew the answer, but to have him answer her directly. That's all she needed. Carefully, Selene got to her feet, hissing as her body protested the movement. Balo was out currently. It was just Selene right now. She could get out before anyone noticed. Clutching her sides gingerly, Selene opened the door to see the blonde daughter if Iris staring back at her.
"Oh, h-hi Balo," Selene stammered, feeling her cheeks turn red. "I just, needed to use the restroom?" It was a haphazard excuse. And one she'd tried before. Balo would see right through her lie. Selene never was a good liar.
