They say English is a Germanic language
"That's because it is a language that originated from the Northlands, whereas Latin is a Southern language."
shadows.
Sounds reasonable.
However... English and Latin seem to be grammatically similar. What I mean is, I believe English could replace Latin as the academic language of the intellectual world.
Stretch yourself with me. Learn my ways.
English adopted Latin grammar, style, and form as a way of concise and legally definitive expressions that only become more specific, more clarified, more subtle. It is like Christians adopting Hebrew faith and vice versa.
However... as a language written in such a way it's like the public community as an individual doing so. Here as I write it.
Well... our language is the Germanic language. The Norse language. The Pagan language of the far distant faintly rumored legendary people who live on the other side of the world at the far end of the Roman empire in present day Scotland, where explorers are rumored to have been and the empire plans to civilize.
Those are the last people. And realistically... there is really no other language in competition, and none of us are going to learn Latin to establish our credibility as scholars. "Well... did you actually read it?"
We are all pretty much guilty of that to some degree now as scholars, so it's pretty safe to joke about.
We rely entirely on the work of translators of any language, not just Latin, and that is difficult and less efficient than standardizing academic language for the purpose of universal scientific inquiry.
It's vitally necessary in the domains of mental health science when people are describing their internal individual private experiences and we are describing that as a universal pathology of the human condition.
Curious.
You wanted to know what group was going to be saved "like that". Well, I believe that is the answer to your expectations, and you probably are not disappointed.
"English language won". It was a language race. Not a human race. It's pretty much living inside you with or without you after all.
This would mean that what makes the human beings, universal as a people, so superior in Nature (not only the English speakers), is that we invent words effectively, learn them, use them cooperatively, and have a mystical insight into the shadow matrix of divine reason underlying reality like no other creature.
...
The only means to defend thineself from one of those androgenously cute doe eyed creatures capable of bamberfrying you in an instant with a mere glance is to know the word of what they are doing to you.
You have to know you have been bamberfried to catch up to your crispy self later and state the proper and true excuse for the condition of your embarrassment.
