Hello! What do you think of BanKik? 👀
i like it! it's among my kikyo crack ships bcs i 1) love imagining kikyo interacting with many individuals and it's not hard for me to imagine anyone falling for her 2) sunrise just had to make them interact and have them evaluate each other's existence and have bankotsu casually flirt with kikyo JDJDJDJDHJF

and i like the concept of bankik a lot precisely bcs they're in opposition with each other's philosophy of life, each of them at the end of the spectrum of virtue, kikyo following it to the point of repressing her feelings/wants, bankotsu doing about ANYTHING he wanted without caring about the concept of virtue.
now my thing with bankik is that sumisawa or whoever was in charge of this one episode's direction already exposed what would make a potential relationship between them very complicated or have them clash inevitably.
bcs you see, no matter how much kikyo would say she felt freer and less held down by the shackles of correctness, she still wished to help as much as she could, that was just her nature, even if granted freedom to be herself she still wanted to be out there doing what was right and helping others - but bankotsu was the opposite HDHDHDHD
bankotsu knew of loyalty and affection for those he held dear, he had his own codes and operated by them, but he wasn't interested in being "good" and he definitely enjoyed the thrill of fighting in a way kikyo did not and never did.
and then comes the murders (? bcs an understanding between kikyo and bankotsu starts and ends in that, precisely in that one scene kikyo asks him why he's not using his second chance at life to be different or be better, and he waves her off about that, they're obviously very different individuals, uninterested in the other's way of living their borrowed life.
now there's potential, i can see bankotsu trying unruffle kikyo or pulling her away from her martyr tendencies, and since kikyo was understanding of human nature (she was understanding even of onigumo even when he absolutely ruined her life and got her killed), i can see her finding salvageable traits in bankotsu, perhaps in his everlasting loyalty to those that are like him.
that's your sort of fic when two individuals are forced to spend time together and know each other hahaha that's how i feel about them!
