Phrathat Ban Pong For as long as I can remember this temple has been under construction. Some months back I noticed that after many years the scaffolding was finally gone from the temple on the mountain top and, more recently, a sign has gone up showing that the temple is open to visitors. I decided to go take a look. Amazing to see this beautiful temple, which still has some way to go for completion, but I think not too long. Maybe a year to go max? Who knows. Will be interesting to visit intermittently to see how it progresses. Currently there is a donations box and also, you can purchase small packages of cement powder which you write your name on, which will help towards the final construction. You purchase via donation. I bought one package and placed it in the pile of other names. I really like the idea that I will somehow be a small part of this construction now. That the powder i bought by donation will go into this magnificent temple that is so iconic to Samoeng and this famous Chiang Mai area loop. Feels good.
