In an update to a previous post I did, and since I fixed her glue head problem, I now have another Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 Merliah doll with the original/correct (?) Face, bringing the count of Merliah dolls to 3:
On the left is what's left of my well loved Original Merliah doll I got all the way back in 2013, the first ever doll I bought for myself, in her original swimsuit, but not her original body (save for the right leg, it's a long story). In the middle is the New in box Merliah I got off Amazon last year around my birthday with her different face, dressed in fashionistas clothes. At first I wasn't sure if it was just me or if her face was actually different, but since then looking at images online and now having this 3rd one, I can see her face is definitely different. On the right is the Merliah I got last week at a thrift store, wearing the outfit of the middle Merliah.
Comparing the middle and right Merliah, you can tell middle Merliah has bigger features. Bigger eyes, bigger lips, a bigger nose, and her eyebrows are a little bigger and thicker than right Merliah. Middle Merliah just looks... Off. I knew in my heart when I got her something was a Miss. When I saw right Merliah at the thrift store I noticed her face was right and I grabbed her immediately. Middle Merliah isn't much of a glue head, and neither was my original/left Merliah back in the day, so I was kinda annoyed thrift/right Merliah was.
Here's a comparison of my original/Left Merliah and my thrifted/right Merliah. Left Merliah as seen better days but I still love her regardless!
Also on a side note I have not seen barbie in a mermaid tale 2. I don't have an interest in the barbie movies. I just happened to really really like this doll when I saw her at my local grocery store back in 2013. I happened to be home alone for the weekend and the next day I said screw it and finally went and bought myself my first doll. For context a few months prior I had my mom's old dolls but she found all of them and tossed them so I didn't have any dolls again for a bit, and while I was devastated, I was glad to eventually own a doll I could fully call my own.
