When my 16 y/o me wanted to do a Barbie Blondie™ x Leo Valdez cuz I wanted to laugh
So, I've been thinking lately about this canon x oc ship that I had back then when I was like 16 y/o. I just finished reading Heroes of Olympus and I was really bitter with Caleo, I didn't remember quite well why —until I read opinions on reddit— but I did remember giving Leo another romantic interest.
Basically, it was an Aphrodite's daughter, because, yeah, I like the irony coming from son of Hephaestus x Daughter of Aphrodite —Silene, Charlie, you deserved better 🥺—. And basically, because I'm a clown I wanted her to be as funny as I could imagine, and no, I don't mean like in a Leo way, I mean in a diva way. I wanted her to be as stereotypical, pink, popular and funny as I could, like Elle Woods, Glinda (Wicked) or Sharpay Evans, and because I was feeling EXTRA funny, I named her Barbara, because, yes, of course I wanted to call Barbie the pink diva, it was just perfect.
Barbie Evans, I wasn't very subtle about it.
Honestly I didn't thought of it like, fixing up Caleo, but more like "what would I like to see or read", because Leo deserved a lot.
The idea too was make it a slow burn, because I love slow cooked love. And I definitely didn't wanted Barbie to be the kind of character that does everything right where maybe Calypso failed.

I literally wanted her to disgust Leo at first, even finding him unattractive, and later have a crisis when she realizes that he's... Kinda cute????? Like, even finds interesting all his rambling about machines??? Everything's so new to her that she thinks at first she's crazy.
I MEAN.
I LIKE ROMANTIC COMEDY. A character like a dumb blond falling for the class clown??
I don't know if I ever get to write about this but, I just wanted to leave this here because the idea came back to me almost 9 years later and now I find it SO funny that I wish I had the energy to write it. Maybe I'll keep rambling about it here. 🤔
