its been 2 days and im still thinking about that last conversation Barbie and Ken had in the film where they are apologizing to each other over the things that happened that caused the ken revolt and how it would be better for the both of them to get some much needed separation so they could just discover who they are without the other.
{ I know there are more things to cry over with this movie but if I think long and hard about this specifically I just get choked up and misty eyed} The conflict these two have individually in this movie is so fascinating to me.
NAME A MORE ICONIC VERSION OF PRINCE AND THE PAUPER THAN BARBIE AS THE PRINCESS AND THE PAUPER. I’LL WAIT
The Barbie audio CD being available along with the LP vinyl and me having to wait YONKS for The Little Mermaid to even have an audio CD edition {that i only got like maybe a month ago} while they only released it on spotify and amazon music and LP vinyl
much shock much surprise
Random thoughts post seeing Barbie and I cannot for the life of me get over everyone's riotous laughter that ensued in my cinema room when they played the depression barbie 'commercial'
Also the Ken song has taken its rightful place as my immediate replay
half the reblogs on my tumblr just consisting of The Little Mermaid and Barbie in this repetition cycle until the end of time was not on my bingo card but im kinda glad this is the brand now, sorry to everyone that has to put up with that outside of the odd multifandomness
Taking the time again to be grateful for not only going to see The Little Mermaid back in May and going to see Barbie this weekend but just I think the thing that added to both experiences was the fact it was the same cinema room I saw The Little Mermaid in and both times I had a reactive audience to share in both experiences idk it just felt really great. And for some reason it felt extra special in regards to Barbie {there were kids that came with their family no doubt} but I could just feel everyone in the older demographic {who also dressed in pink and Barbie merch} was having a good time.
It just feels like this sort of homey nostalgic childlike comfort that I'm going to be holding onto for the foreseeable future with everything going on right now.
All I know is the more I think on Barbie in particular the more I will be watching this again {when it releases on dvd} sitting alone in the privacy of my room and getting emotional. I got choked up at times watching this to be sure but because I was in a reactive room I barely shed a tear, {my experience felt more silently reflective whenever they got into the deeper meaning of everything that was happening} but I definitely feel like tears will be flowing the next time I see this.
Anyway back from the cinemas again and Barbie was everything I knew and wanted it to be and no disrespect to Margot Robbie she was amazing {as was every other 'barbie' but Ken and the Ken{s} fucking killed me}...the fourth wall breaks, narration and 'barbie commercials' had me wheezing.
Also me and my sister cut it so close by going to this opening night our cinema room was nearly packed front to back, the line for this movie went all the way to the Sobeys parking lot and I think they had to tell people to come back for the 9:00 showing.
