Don't Touch Me.

During midday, walking out of the subway, I saw a man in the corner of my eye, aim and dive for my butt and felt him poke it. I caught him staring at me earlier in the train. He quickly walked away and tried to blend into the crowd. But I quickly walked after him and angrily grabbed him. "Did you poke my butt?" He started stuttering. I scoffed, "Don't do it again." Ten minutes later, I was chatting on the phone while walking on the sidewalk to meet my date. A man who was walking the opposite direction from me on the same sidewalk suddenly grabbed my hand to hold it while he was grinning stupidly at me. I stopped, jerked my hand out of his hand, and yelled angrily at him, "Don't touch me!" Multiple people on the sidewalk stopped, startled by the situation. The man, embarrassed, let go of his stupid grin and quickly walked away. Men, you can look but don't you touch.

Life Can Get Tough

My best friend in high school had a tough time dealing with her parents, who previously sent her to reform boarding school. So she ran away from home and stayed at her guy friend's house for a couple of months. At this point, I introduced her to the adrenaline-inducing alternative for our expensive addiction to clothes...shoplifting. But I warned her to never put clothes in her purse because that was a guaranteed way to get caught.

One day on the way to school, my friend's tire popped so the tow truck towed the car away to the body shop...and my mobile which I accidentally left inside. That day and the next two days, my bff didn't arrive to school. I was a little worried when my calls went straight to answering machine, but not really--besides, she was a crackhead, too. 

I finally got my phone in the morning and checked my messages. Some were from her-- in the Police Department. I was so frightened after hearing her hoarse, choked voice crying for me to get her... she just turned 18 so she was treated as an adult, but she ran away from home so she couldn't call her parents. She was at school that day and she told me that she was in jail for the last 3 days for getting caught shoplifting a Diane Von Furstenberg shirt in her purse. I comforted her, but our somewhat suspicious nature toward each other and the horrible coincidence left a blemish on our short and wild friendship which ended sourly after.
