🇬🇧 Barbiton Barbiton, an instrument of music used by Sappho and Alcaeus, and therefore called Lesboum by Horace. Some say it had three strings, others seven. How it differed from the lyra and cithara is not precisely known. Strabo makes it the same with the sambuca.

🇹🇷 Barbiton Yunanların kullandığı lyra benzeri telli sazlar grubundan müzik aleti. Sappho ve Alcaeus tarafından kullanılmıştır ve bu yüzden Lesboum diye adlandırılır. Üç telli ya da yedi telli olduğu söylenir. Lir ve Kithara’dan ne şekilde farklı olduğu kesin olarak bilinmemektedir. Strabon, Barbiton’u Sambuca’ya benzetmiştir.

The Charming Performance. Charles Joseph Frédéric Soulacroix (French, 1858-1933). 

Playing the lyre, or perhaps the barbiton, an ancient stringed instrument known from Greek and Roman classics which is related to the lyre.

In 1845, Soulacroix entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and began showing his works at the Paris Salon in 1849. Soulacroix specialized mainly in portraying the activities of his wealthy contemporaries.
