First of, thank you for making me aware of Apollo's swan lyre. it's such a cool thing! And now I'm wondering, do you know any other such unique details on Apollo's lyre?

Of course anon, the beauty of Apollo's swan lyre had to be shared with the world 🦢 I also made a post about his griffin lyres, if you haven't seen it yet.

Apart from this, there are also some simple patterns sculpted on Apollo's lyre/cithara in these statues

And of course I cannot forget this one where there's a tiny, hanged Marsyas carved. (Not creepy at all, Apollo.)

Apollo's lyre is given extravagant detail in poems, especially in Latin poems. It is said to be made of gold and ivory, with various gems embedded. Now in these vase paintings, I'm assuming that the parts colored in white are supposed to represent ivory, i can't think of anything else it could be.

And in this sarcophagus carving, it looks like his lyre is embedded with gemstones. But that's my interpretation.
