Some people prefer bare: The Musical because apparently their relationship is more realistic since "there's no way they could hide a relationship for four years". But have you considered... That they were just friends for most of their knowing of each other?
..... It's very difficult for me to draw for bare because of the various versions of it. I want to do an animatic of "You and I" but should I go with Michael Arden and John Platt or Payson Lewis and Jonah Hill? (Okay, so I could've sworn the LA revival was 2012 but now I'm reading it again and it's 2013? This feels like a Mandela Effect scenario.) Or maybe I could just do Peter and Michael from bare: A Musical since there's really only Jason Hite and Taylor Trensch as the actors. The only problem is that they don't have a cast recording as far as I know so I can't use the music for that... //sighs// I wish they did though. I love the song "Best Friend" that Peter and Dianne sing. It's so adorable >w< I would make an animatic for that in a heartbeat. Also, have you noticed that the name of these three Jasons' actors all start with J and one of them is literally named Jason too? I find that hilarious.
The last Romeo and Juliet scene in "bare"
I thought you’d want to know what is going on just before… You know… In bare: A Pop Opera and in The Musical. It’s kinda hard to hear the actual lines considering that (one) it’s Shakespearean and (two) if you’re watching the bootleg, it’s difficult to make out.
“Queen Mab” is Act 1, Scene 4, Page 3-4
The song is just between Mercutio and Romeo but Benvolio is technically there too. This scene is Romeo telling his friends that he doesn’t want to go to the Masquerade because he had a dream that warned him against it. Mercutio tells Romeo that the dream is false but Romeo responds saying that his dreams can be true. Mercutio then rambles on about how the dream must’ve been from Queen Mab, a fairy that bestows dreams of a person’s (explicit) desires.
In The Musical, they do the beginning of Scene 4, skip Queen Mab, then end Scene 4. They shorten it A LOT.
The scene is pretty much Benvolio and Mercutio trying to convince Romeo to go to the ball, but he has a bad feeling about the dance. The little speech Romeo has just before Jason collapses is basically self-prophesying his inevitable demise if he goes to dance.
The dance they’re going to is where Romeo meets Juliet.
Did you know that in bare: The Musical, during "Confession", Peter says "I don't know where to start" then it's followed by his and Jason's meeting on Ash Wednesday (FIVE DAYS BEFORE "YOU AND I" IN ACT ONE) This is probably a connection to "Cross" when Jason says "I don't know where to start- wait, yes I do."

Peter: "Math Book. Uh, that's two words. It's not like a compound so just- uh..." //points at Jason// "He was going to borrow mine later."
Jason: "Y-yeah... I was."
Father Mike: "Would you like to borrow his math book now?"
Peter: "..."
Jason: "..."
Peter: "..."
Jason: "Uh... I would but... I will... Wait."

I've given up on writing that essay for why I love bare: A Pop Opera. It's um... It's a bit too ramble-Y... I'm also pretty sure that it wouldn't fit on a tumblr post sooooo. Yeah. If anyone still wants to hear any of my analysis for any for the scenes/songs/characters, hmu in the messages or send an ask! I can talk about the parallels between Romeo and Juliet and bare or about the meaning of "Queen Mab" in relation to the story! I could also post all of the song melodies hidden in other songs, talk about different productions of A Pop Opera and bare: The Musical! In the production of bare: The Musical, it's implied that Peter tops Jason.
Seriously though, did bare: the musical really not think its listeners wouldn't hear the change "I said don't look down then I did" in "Once Upon A Time"? Do they really think that made sense? They really should've given the actual line "Don't look down" to Peter in that version of "You and I" instead of trying to pull off that weird change.
