CALLING ALL THE BARE FANDOM

Im planning on getting a Bare tattoo but i don't know what to get. Im wanting to get a little symbol but i don't want anything that somebody would think is there for religious reasons. If you have any ideas im begging you please share.

I know I've talked about this before but i will talk about it again Matt from bare is one of my favorite characters ever from anything not just Bare

Now i would NEVER try to justify what he did EVER but that doesn't mean that i don't truly enjoy his character.

Now in order to talk about Matt we have to address the elephant in the room... He outed Jason and Peter and something that isn't really talked about he told the whole school about Ivys pregnancy before she was ready too.

But and this is a big but wouldn't you do the same? I mean if you're reading this you're probably some type of LGBT or at least very supportive. But put yourself in Matt's shoes he was young and dumb he had probably never met a gay person before and he definitely hadn't seen them in a positive light. More than that he was the boy that was always left out (something that i relate to). None of which is an excuse for what he did im not excuseing what he did.

Another thing that leads me to believe that he's not all bad is how he acted directly after best kept secret when he saw Peter and Jason kiss. Matt's whole world crumbled including his faith (And coming from somebody who has lost his faith that is a very scary thing) the first thing he did wasn't to immediately out them or confront them about it his first move was to seek spiritual guidance. And even after that he still couldn't believe that someone that he knew and concederd a good friend (Peter probably not so much Jason) could be that bad. He couldn't condem his friend to hell. This is something that i think is important to note even after Are you there when Peter came out to Matt. Matt didn't confront or more importantly condemn Peter he left which is something that even excepting people can be guilty of. But then he fucked up and it was a big fuck up. But i don't think that that makes him a bad person

Again I'm not trying to justify his actions and im not trying to excuse them what he did was unexceptable but i don't think that his actions make him a bad person or take away any chance of redemption he could ever have

Bare: a pop opera Timeline

Below is the bapo timeline I came up with. I included notes on the side of each month with my reasoning for why certain events are where they are (it's a lot and I'm so sorry, I really tried to be concise 😅).

Biggest notes:

Bare takes place in the United States and I'm also from the U.S. so apologies in advance that the calendar goes Sunday-Saturday and for the way I write my dates 😬

You & I takes place over the course of about a month and is a general overview of what Peter and Jason's relationship looks like while at St. Cecilia's (I imagine each "Jason!" is a different day). There are also a handful of other songs (Role of a Lifetime, Portrait of a Girl, Wedding Bells, Warning, and Absolution) that don't have a specific determinable time that they occur that I have explained in the notes.

The most convoluted part of the timeline was actually fitting in the Rave and Ivy's birthday. I had to set this project down and come back to it multiple times to figure it out, so I think this is as good as it'll get lol.

I picked 2014 as the year 1) because Epiphany was on a Monday and was not a leap year, which made things easier, and 2) because that was my Senior year of High School.

Bare fandom help please!!

I’m making a list of all the musical motifs/themes and where they appear in bare: a pop opera (there’s so many) and I’m giving them names (such as the Seduction Theme in One Kiss and One or the Bare Theme that opens the musical).

However there’s one theme/motif that I have no clue what to name it. It’s used super often, mostly between Peter and Jason but it crops up plenty of other places too.

Here are screenshots of a few examples of this theme along with the soundtrack Song/Time. Once you hear it you’ll know exactly what I mean:

BAPO Timeline - Year 2000

I saw a few people mention on my previous timeline post and just in general that the musical probably wouldn't take place that recently, and that's a fair point, so I remade the calendar for the year 2000 (which is when the original production took place).

I removed the notes from the side because I didn't want to edit them (it was a lot, okay?) but the only differences between this one and my previous post are:

There are 2 extra days in Semester 1 at the start of January since Epiphany is on a Thursday in 2000 (instead of a Monday in 2014).

All of the events from Pilgrim's Hands to A Glooming Peace were pushed from the last week of May to the first week of June. (Essentially, everything was just pushed 4 days later.)

I'm sure everyone has figured this out but in Bare. When Peter said "a and I forgive you father" (during absolution if you were wondering) he is showing that he is following Jesus's commands better than the priest

Queen Mab is just…such a good song.

Of course I also pretend the second half of the song doesn’t happen.

But like. The actual Queen Mab speech part? *chef’s kiss*

The steady buildup of the most important and descriptive parts of that speech to the climax, weaving like the spider’s web, which is then supported by the music slowly going higher then lower then even higher and weaving through itself before it reaches the highest point along with the speech climax.

Like. That’s good stuff right there.
