The Story
The story is about the three main characters heading to a boat before their home gets flooded.
This film has (like many other sequels) have the curse of not being as mature as its predecessor, but this film goes one step ahead! The humans, the most mysterious, dangerous creatures in the previous film are nowhere to be seen in this film! Which is a shame because it gave the first film a more threatening atmosphere and the baby was a likeable character as well.
There are a few deaths in this film, but they've been toned down in this film, which makes the deaths feel a bit too grim for this more child-friendly sequel.
The film also has a surprising amount of filler scenes in it. If you cut out the fillers, it will only be slightly shorter than the first film. Why keep the extra 10 minutes?
The story overall is really predictable and you know where it's going to go. Other than a chuckle or two, this film does not deliver on the laughs at all.
The Characters
The main characters are less interesting in this film. The two main characters (Sid and Diego) don't have much to do in this film. They only get side plots, one of which is to do with the fear of water, which is understandable. But the other one involves a cult we know nothing about and don't show up till the last third of the film.
The new characters are really bad. The two possums are obnoxiously annoying to the point of being unlikeable. The only new character I did like was Ellie, but the time where she thinks she is a possum does get annoying and you know exactly where it's going to go.
The side characters do nothing in this film other than giving us unfunny humour.
The Animation/Special Effects
The animation has definitely improved from the first film. The fur textures have improved and Sid looks a lot less ugly. The only complaint that I do have with the animation though is that the water effects look terrible at times.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this isn't the worst sequels out there, but it still isn't that great. It isn't offensive in any way, but to be honest, there are better films out there. Honestly, if you REALLY want to see this film, give it a rental or pick it up from the bargain bin.

Soulmate au where you can always hear your soulmates heartbeat.
hi there! if i were to use one of the prompts you have would you like to be tagged in the story? or no?
Oh, please do! I'm not worried about credit or anything, but I would love to see the finished product.
Good to know my terrible content actually has some use!
Shinji Mikami is known for defining an entire genre of survival horror. Goichi “Suda51” Suda is known for his quirky, comedic style. Put these two in charge of one game, and you get something magical. But we can just call it Shadows of the Damned...
