My thoughts on ice age I guess down below

Decided to read the ice age book for some reason

I think while I still like parts of the 1st movie some flaws of it I think I still have critiques of the main plot

manny's kind of a very passive character, and I kind of just felt...idk, bad for sid and felt like manny was too much of a jerk. i might be a hypocrite though because diego is also a jerk, but he's more of a fun jerk + he's intentionally meant to not be a good guy at the start, so the audience isn't MEANT to think he has good intentions until later on.

like. the moment where manny kinda refuses to let sid in his shelter, the intention is that you're meant to laugh at it, not really that you were meant to sympathize with sid, which i think is meant to be like karma for him being mean to sylvia (the movie cut her out though).

(i understand if someone here feels the reverse and hates sid instead though)

this felt similar to a moment in shrek where shrek kicks donkey out of his house, but the difference is that shrek briefly considers letting him in, and when he kicks him out the movie clearly plays it in a way that you're meant to sympathize with both parties.

idk. also just moments like where manny and diego outright hit sid on the head. maybe that humors just not for me, but i didnt like, mind it in beauty and the beast with gaston and lefou because they're villains,.
