Kaoru about “The Insulated World”
Kaoru: I already said it before but, “ARCHE”’ has the image of a pure/clean álbum. So at the early stages, there was a talk about making a violent album this time. But, I am comfortable with my own feelings now so rather than fast tempo songs, I would tend to do relaxed things. So it’s like…as much as possible do not rely on yourself…it’s a weird way to say it.
Toshiya on ARCHE
-I couldn’t predict at all what kind of album would you deliver but, starting with this shocking and stimulating opening track “Keibutsu to hajimari”, my first impression after listening the cd was that it was a work I wouldn’t had expected. For this reason, I’m curious about “ARCHE”. Now that this album is finished, how do you perceive that album?
Toshiya: I think it was an album that declares a returning point but fair enough, there were parts where we were aware about ourselves. At the time we formed the band, we released “Missa” mini album then “GAUZE” and “MACABRE”… what kind of things were we thinking? What kind of things we were dreaming about? That’s why this part feels good. For example, even at rehearsals, in the past we were 5 people facing each other stuffed in a small box. With that feeling of 5 people facing each other, I think we made “ARCHE”.
-So, it’s not like the previous works were made by five people facing each other?
Toshiya: Yes. Call it a science advance or a Civilization advance but rather than working face to face, working facing a monitor has increased right? Of course, this is very convenient to use. But at the time of “ARCHE” we were again 5 people resounding at the studio, checking details such as the atmosphere of the songs. From there, we started the recording. So, I wonder if it was unnecessarily strong.
In other words it might be odd but a band called “Dir en grey” was able to do ten albums, when we completed this one I felt a lot of joy in me. I think that making ten albums is really great. Without changing any member, I honestly think that it’s amazing that five people have being working together since the beginning.
