So. I've got a First Act telecaster thing. Pretty pathetic, I know. I got it for around $20 second hand. That's about rights for what It actually is. It is scratchy sounding. Hum so bad as to make a deaf man weep. Nevertheless, that ash body is a starting point. I'm going to be doing a reconstruction of a sort with it. I have most of the parts and will be making it into a barn-caster. Through my job, I've acquired pine off an old, old barn. Looking at 60 year old aerial photos, the barn was there then, at least. In addition, I've got a nice Epiphone P90 a friend gave me years ago that I've waited to utilize. My boss built his custom house with some repurposed mahogany, I think he said, which I'll plane down this one plank to make into the fretboard. Also, I have some seasoned aromatic Eastern Red Cedar which I'll use for the inlay and maybe use the heartwood for the neck (i'll be reinforcing it with carbon fiber). I'll need to acquire the sole potentiometer for volume. I'm going barebones here. I might get an old license plate for a pickguard. Fretwrite, bone nut & locking tuners will round it out. My big debate right now is twofold: 1) Semihollow Body? If so, what kind of F-Hole - traditional or complex? 2) Tremolo or no? I am a big fan of the tremolo system on the mustang, but I'd consider a bigsby or other non-traditional tremolo. Further, if I opt out, then what static bridge? Through body or hardtail? Let me know your thoughts!
