Yesterday was one of those luminous Scottish autumn days The next few days looked nice too, but because yesterday was forecast to be less windy, that's the one we picked for a walk in Knapdale.....cos we knew it would mean reflections.
We started off at Barnluasgan and skirted around Loch Coille-Bharr. No sign of beavers, but didn't expect to given the time of day. Still, we bumped into a Forest & Land Scotland bod out on patrol and had a great chat about all sorts. He was out looking for new beaver gnawings in case any newly-unsafe trees were about to threaten the path. Still never seen a beaver, but always fascinating to see the evidence.
Much of the long walk was also below a broadleaf canopy, which is still a bit of a novelty for me in Argyll, but then there was a sudden emergence onto the very calm sea water around the Faery Isles....before continuing to the end of the peninsula and the open views across to Taynish.
It rained at that point, but that did mean the most stunning rainbow above the golden oak woodland! That's something that this part of the world does really well - coastal broadleaf woodland, and it looks all the more beautiful when it's gnarled, twisty old oaks.
All in all, a fantastic day in Knapdale !
