I was given permission to turn a green broke horse into a barrel horse.

But it's my first time attempting this. I've gathered some information by watching my friend and my instructor do this, however advice would be useful.

He is an 8 year old Quarter Horse, a little spooky, doesn't quite understand the commands to walk (nudging, kissing, clicking, and "walk on" all work, but it seems to take a moment for him to process what I'm asking). Turning is a little difficult but he understands it for the most part. I can flex him and tapping him with my outside leg gets a better response, but I want to make his mouth more sensitive.

I just hope that, when I turn him into a winner, people will start taking me a little more seriously in this industry.
