snake baby!? great uncle!? *rolls up the hill* tell me moooore ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
snek babey: hisoka isn’t entirely human and part water serpent shiki
rui’s been pregnant for years with Something that nagare flat out denies paternity of (that would be an incredible episode of maury)
i guess it could be something else but... i’m just gonna call it and say that’s most likely yato’s new vessel
she only got pregnant with it after hisoka died, and i guess we can assume it was an active attempt to have a new heir after his death... but you’d think they would have tried to have other kids before that, especially since he was already labeled an unfit heir (to the point that rui tried to fucking kill him as a toddler) and they knew he was sick and dying years before he did actually die :Ia we know it’s not against the rules to have numerous kids in the main line as long as they’re boys and that a father can even choose which child will succeed him. overall that situation makes no sense and is kinda sus (we... could also blame this one on nagare i guess lol but it’s Sus)
nagare had yato within him even when hisoka was conceived
ie there’s no different circumstances between rui’s pregnancy with hisoka and rui’s pregnancy now except we can assume the one with hisoka was normal...
...until he was actually born and it was discovered he has psychic powers lol :,)
the villagers say hisoka is “unfit to be heir” and a “demon/monster” bc of these powers and yeah, they superstitious assholes..... but their legend with yato is true. makes you wonder why they knee jerked over hisoka’s powers in particular. and not just in a “lock him away” kinda way. these guys wanted him dead. the conclusion i and the chat have come to on why kurosaki girl babies are killed is that if they were to mature and get pregnant, bingo, yato being inside of them could just transfer himself to a baby with less effort. that in mind, could it be the villagers were worried about hisoka becoming a vessel? we’re shown even now that in some way yato can still manipulate those around him, since kasane has been resurrected as a nure-onna, so i wonder what could happen if someone predisposed to his traits “inherited” him? or made a pact with him?
yato is a water serpent, and water shiki are shown to have healing capabilities (sohryu goes to his water...cave...? thing to heal up after being stabbed)
hisoka’s own element is water, and has incredible healing powers himself
to back the water element thing up, he particularly seems to take less damage from fire
no seriously he shouldn’t have been able to survive kurikara’s flames no less heal someone else who was burned by them. everyone seems concerned and surprised that he survives. while he was in touda’s flames less time than tsuzuki, he still was in the same area of effect as tsuzuki. tsuzuki is shown to still be physically alright by the time hisoka arrives. what i’m getting at is hisoka and tsuzuki took the same amount of damage from the fire, but hisoka recovered faster than tsuzuki. in the first arc, tsuzuki’s back gets blown out, and the only way he survives that is because hisoka shares his body (and healing surpassing regular shinigami and tsuzuki’s healing) with him. this is also after hisoka had already been drained of huge amounts of blood by muraki. basically his healing abilities are better than tsuzuki’s who also has innate non-shinigami related healing abilities, and he seems to be particularly resistant to fire
there’s a depiction of someone in a flashback of yato and ren with light hair, which ppl likely would assume to be ren... but it doesn’t actually confirm that that’s who’s depicted. in this scene yato describes how ren killed his humanoid form. in another depiction of ren, he’s shown with black hair, not light. (i think at the village festival? ergo, in-universe this is meant to be what the villagers thought ren looked like. iirc it’s stylized like traditional japanese art so it’s not like, a real-to-life portrait or anything... but his hair is still presented as black)
actually, speaking of the above, yato mentions ren was a coward to kill his humanoid form. the implication is maybe he couldn’t even be killed if he wasn’t in the “weaker” form. (sohryu’s also in his humanoid form when he’s stabbed and sustains damage.) my point with this is yato also is implied to have been a tank regeneration wise save the humanoid form but even killing his humanoid form was a Great Feat lol
re: above the kurosaki’s in general might have genetics based on yato’s humanoid form. we don’t really get to see kai and since iwao’s 48 we don’t know if he’s grey or blond as well or what their eye colors are, but [shrug] eh lol
it would be super ironic for hisoka to comfort tsuzuki and insist to him he’s human while hisoka isn’t entirely human himself ┐(◕◡◕)┌ it would be even more ironic that it’s hisoka not being entirely human that’s saved tsuzuki at least once but probably more
great ojisan tsuzuki but it’s literal: put ur tinfoil hat on honey this one’s wild and held together with gum and paperclips
at one point muraki mentions being related to tsuzuki but fuck if i can find the specific line i’m referring to lmao. at a glance it might seem like they’re connected by being descended of darkness in general, but what if that’s, lyke, literal? :O
yukitaka seems to have known tsuzuki even before he was hospitalized. maybe it’s a doctor taking on a patient with what he thinks is something supernatural going on, or a genetic mutation. maybe he thinks he had a subject to experiment on or something? but it does seem strange to have taken in a random stranger to give him medical treatment free of charge before being aware of what’s special about it, especially because it’s been shown to us that otherwise tsuzuki was an outcast
enma describes yukitaka, and now kazutaka, as meddlesome. since enma clearly wants to keep tsuzuki for whatever reason, it would seem meddlesome to him would be something in tsuzuki’s favor. so yeah, there could still be bad juju re: yukitaka being a bad dude and taking advantage of tsuzuki, but there’s no concrete evidence of that. it could be he was legit trying to help tsuzuki. again tho, weird to help a total stranger to the extent yukitaka did
there’s no mention of muraki’s grandmother. while this isn’t the first time in the series someone’s family hasn’t been discussed in depth, we’ve seen that there’s usually something to characters’ family backstories. in kamakura we’re delving into hisoka’s family, there’s been tidbits about tatsumi’s mom, we know muraki himself had a bad home life and that his mom abused him but that he learned about tsuzuki from yuki, etc. so this is kind of a glaring “why wasn’t his granny even mentioned” thing lol. what if it’s painfully relevant?
we know enma kept muraki alive for some sort of purpose, despite him and yukitaka being considered troublemakers for enma, and despite muraki’s crimes. why...? :Ia
there’s an implication ruka died of illness. tsuzuki mentions feeling helpless watching a loved one waste away while there’s nothing that can be done about it. if she was ill, it’s reasonable to assume she’d need a doctor and they’d seek medical treatment for her
we don’t know how old she was, just that she was older than tsuzuki. the fact that she’s the only family member he ever mentions having is similar to one of the points above. it could be relevant, it might not be. the feeling i get from it is an “us against the world” kinda scenario tho. either way, she’d be in an age range where she could probably do stuff in her own life, like, say, get married
yukitaka was 23 years old minimum at the time he took tsuzuki in at the hospital. we know for a fact that tsuzuki was admitted in 1918, and yuki was already a doctor by then. in japan at the time, after high school, there was a 5 year medical course, so for him to be licensed he would have needed to pass high school and that course. there’s sooo much wiggle room here without matsushita just straight up informing us of official timeline stuff, but i bring this up to say yukitaka himself would have been in an appropriate “i am an adult and can get married and have kids” range around this time. there’s room for him to have been a practicing doctor even before 1918 and for him still to be in a reasonable age range i’d say as well :Ia
tsuzuki seems to have barely any recollection of his life before he died, especially of his time in the hospital. when muraki told him yukitaka treated him, tsuzuki didn’t even seem to know who yukitaka is, and thought muraki was just fucking with him. he seems to vividly remember some traumatic events like getting bullied, and he seems to vividly remember ruka, but otherwise he doesn’t discuss his past much. while it could be bc it’s painful, the thing with him not remembering yukitaka implies he just... literally might not remember a lot, not even things as important as “i got medical treatment for nearly a decade from the grandfather of the evil guy whose been stalking me and that’s why he’s obsessed with me”
the thing with tsubaki... a delicate patient, in love with her doctor. that works on its own as a tragedy, but man would it also be even more tragic as a parallel to something else. there’s also a parallel with ukiyou in this manner, in that one of a set of lovers involving a doctor is presumed dead/missing? :Ia
tl;dr all that said, is it too far fetched to consider maybe ruka was sick and had a relationship with her doctor, resulting in marriage, and a baby? or even just a baby lol :Ia
@steampunkscarecrow replied to your post “does anyone remember any time hisoka’s curse marks flared and it...”
hmmm i dont think it ever happens? :o i think muraki mentions in passing at some point that he can Control them flaring up?
so nice to have More fodder to work with here........... >:}
what would y’all say if i said there is, in fact, an instance of the curse marks flaring, but it doesn’t immediately seem to be muraki related?

i have this nagging feeling there was another instance that i'm forgetting but i cannot for the life of me remember when it was. i gotta get my 7 hours of zzzs but now i have access to my physical volumes again (thanks covid) i can take a look thru tomorrow if you'd like !
no rush lol, please rest well ;w;
i would appreciate that! i don’t have physical volumes, so i can’t leaf through so it’s... not as easy for me to reference stuff :,)
there is an instance of it in the redraw that made me gasp when i Thought about it but i don’t remember it happening in og lol
i guess to clarify, i’m trying to gauge if they could flare at any stress/recollection of trauma hisoka has, or if it’s only been in relation to muraki :Ia
@chibistarlyte replied to your post “this phone sitch is worse than i though phone was ordered now i can’t...”
how..........does that make sense.......??? :(
exactly
they’re trying to force people to pay them to use something that they’re already being compensated for
i guess i’ll describe the program. it’s government provided phone service, but there’s companies that do it for them, you know? so this company gets paid by the gov for me being enrolled with them, ie it’s actually worth their while to provide actual support lol
on chat service they told me i wasn’t enrolled anymore, so i’m like ok...... that’s not right, i just recertified. how do i fix this problem? i need a new sim card. they were like oh well you need to call this number to talk to them
how do i do that........ when even when the phone arrives.... i won’t have a sim....
meanwhile the agent told me they (chat support employees) literally aren’t allowed, don’t have the capability, of helping with issues like these
so i’m like oh. it’s a trick. you all are just trying to get more money from vulnerable people
so now they want me to go to walmart and buy a time card from them to use with the phone to call them to request a new sim card that they’re already paid by the gov to provide
i wish i were joking
