On September 24th 1965 #DoloresHuerta would stand atop of a car at the start of the Delano grape strike holding a sign that simply read "huelga" (strike) and bared the UFW's trademark symbol. She called for other field workers to join them at a time when Mexican farm workers were making only $1.10 an hour in the fields compared to the average pay of $1.40 an hour. The strike would start on September 8th of that year and last 5 years. This image would become iconic for those who were fed up with oppression in the work place. Years later Mrs Huerta would go on to receive the United states medal of Freedom from president Obama in 2012 , the highest award given to any citizen within the US. #BarrioIcons

On January of 1977, Lowrider Magazine would officially drop and change the world of customized vehicles. Only 1000 copies were originally pressed. The issue contained 29 pages , 9 advertisements, and 7 featured sections. The opening editorial was titled: What It Is Que Onda or Lowriders Vs Chico and the Man. The magazine would be bare bones but would grow to millions of readers or decades of publication. The cover would be the defining image of an entire movement. According to the 20th anniversary issue of low rider magazine, this image was taken in 1976 at Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy at a happening. The following is an excerpt from LRM: "As the evening fell on the peaceful lowrider happening, the clubs and lovelies started making their way out. 'As I was leaving the park, I saw this woman flying New Image Soledad . That said it all. Lowriding was going to have this new image.' David snapped the shot. she made the first cover of lowrider , gracing all 1000copies hand-delivered to barrios across Northern California."
