What's barsexual?

From Urban Dictionary (which I feel demonstrates the gross misogynistic biphobia pretty well, there’s more definitions if you want to click the link but be prepared for biphobia and misogyny)

A heterosexual girl or woman who partakes in any sort of sexual or promiscuous activity with another female to get attention from males. This usually takes the form of making out, and to a lesser extent, grinding or dry humping with another female. This is a common sight at bars (hence the word barsexual) but can also be found at any party, especially frat parties. The reason for such acts has baffled researchers for years, but it is thought that they seek attention, free drinks, or are prudes too scared to get with men

It’s basically another name for a “fake bi girl”/”bi for college” girl, and it’s a pretty common term to justify biphobic arguments (I’ve seen so many variations of “i don’t mind real bisexual people, i just don’t like those barsexuals”). It also makes it very hard for bi girls genuinely trying to meet girls at bars, because people hear “I’m bi” and think “oh, she’s one of those girls”. And generally, when people use it, it’s because they have assumed that the girl (or person) they’re talking about isn’t really bi? So again, it comes back to “fake bisexual” again, which is a v. biphobic idea. 

It’s misogynistic too. It’s generally used to describe a girl, especially a college aged girl, and it places all the blame for guys finding f/f relationships sexy onto the girls in the relationship/situation.

I’ve seen it used twice today, in the context of justifying a biphobic argument and an argument invalidating and dismissing anybody who isn’t completely sure and totally open about their sexuality and i’m just tired of it.
