“I guess we won’t wear anything, then!” I didn’t mean to let out how hurt I felt. I couldn’t stop it. “Oh real mature, Kyouko. You wanna get married in your chef’s whites?” “Fuck you!” I spat, pointing right at her. “Maybe I don’t wanna get married at all!” The words were poisonous. Untrue. Cruel. They weren’t mine, I was sure of it. But I gave them a voice nonetheless.

Kyouko and Sayaka have always been at each others throats, even though they've been dating for years. But when they decide to go shopping for wedding dresses, respective guests of honour in tow, insecurities and struggles rise to the surface and threaten the entire wedding. Will Madoka and Homura be able to help them say yes to this mess?

Or, in other words, wedding dress shopping is suffering so I'm putting KyouSaya in the torment nexus about it

In celebration of Kyouko’s totally canon birthday, im gonna post something ive never posted before- the sketch i made when I designed the rooftop lair where Kyouko takes Sayaka on a 'date' in the latest chapter of my beloved kyousaya longfic, Heartbeat!

This is something ive started doing more since I got a tablet, and it really helps me get a good sense of a space when writing!

Heartbeat Chapter 9 - Preview

In spite of all the WnK wank, my committment for KyouSaya remains absolute! As such I've just finished drafting Chapter 9 of Heartbeat! It's time to edit, but here's a lil sneak peak from lil Basa to you all:

So there we stood, in the pouring rain, buffeted by wind and dirt and god knows what else, together. We stood in ready, watchful silence, as somewhere behind the clouds the sun set, and darkness passed over us. Walpurgisnacht never came. Kyouko was the first to admit it. “I’m bored.” She said. The first thing any of us had said in hours. “And I’m cold, and I’m wet, and I’m hungry. Anyone else wanna bail?” The storm was a rough one, but it wasn’t magical. The widespread devastation Homura described didn’t happen either.  Mami deflated to my left, letting out a sigh that was drowned out by the rain.  “Perhaps… It’s simply not going to manifest like we thought it would?” At those words, Homura fell to her knees and wept. None of us knew what to do. Madoka just petted her rain-streaked hair gently, until she calmed down enough that we could get her to stand.  After that, Mami invited us to her apartment, to clean off and have something warm to drink. We must have looked like drowned rats, stumbling through the dismal streets. It was just as well there was nobody there to see us.

Heartbeat Chapter 10: Preview

As I'm making some pretty good progress on Chapter 10, I thought I'd publish a part of the opening passage as a lil preview!

It was a cool autumn morning in the Eastern limits of Mitakihara. Well past the train lines, the embankment and the wind farm, even out past the industrial sector that we spent so much time patrolling. It was inconvenient enough that very few people bothered coming all the way here from the centre without good reason. Getting there, especially before dawn like this, would have required a train, a bus, and a ten-minute walk. You know, if I wasn’t a Magical Girl. The sun greeted my sore and tired eyes as it rose, shining in vivid golds from behind the church. For the shortest moment the black silhouette against the sky showed none of the damage from the last two years. It stood tall and grand, proud against the sky as I hiked through the dew-wet grass. In that brief moment I could have imagined myself a little kid again, bounding up the hill for mum’s breakfast and dad’s morning sermon. Instead I fiddled anxiously with the ring sitting on my left middle finger, as the collapsed roof, broken windows and scorched walls were slowly revealed by the light of day.  I walked stiffly through the gaping doorway, surveying the trash-strewn and water-damaged floor.  It looked, and smelled, even worse than it had back in March.  I ducked back outside, leaving the filthy old skeleton to rot beneath the cloudless sky. I wasn’t here for this old wreck, anyway.
