Basco Lighthouse Batan Island Batanes, Philippines
Reflect, and be at peace
down-to-earth, charming, stormworthy

Forget about finding powdery white beaches because you won't find your average beach scene here. The shores are lined with rock and coral, and only the hardiest have tried surfing the pretty decent waves with their skin left hanging off their bodies after; an Australian was said to have brought his board, wiped out, and resurfaced a bloody mess. But there are just so many things to do in Batanes, in order to master that elusive art of not doing anything. Lazing around is an act of tourists though; the locals are a hardworking bunch.
