naming my cat after my favorite baseball player may have been the best idea I have ever had
sharing the email I wrote to [email protected]. I know there's not a whole bunch of us fans on tumblr (esp compared to twitter), but I feel like it is important to try and articulate how shitty the pride night situation is. for anyone who wants to do the same, please feel free to use the email below as a template.
if folks think there's a better way to direct this msg to the team please share. i love being annoying :) and frankly i am pissed!!! off!!!! abt what this indicates abt the clubhouse culture, especially for our hispanic & black players. we should not be prioritizing these shitty bigoted pitchers (and anyone else on the team who refuses to do literally the bare minimum to make this environment safe for marginalized players).

To whom it may concern,
I am writing to express my immense disappointment that the San Francisco Giants management allowed such a disgusting and blatant display of homophobia during the Pride Night game on June 12th, 2026. I love this team deeply, and my family have been Giants fans for over fifty years, which is why it was so disheartening to see players actively choose not to participate in Pride Night, and in fact specifically include bible quotes on their uniforms that are actively hateful and antagonistic towards the LGBTQ+ community.
The fact that players only did so on Pride Night, and not year round, indicates that they were specifically choosing not to support a community that makes up a large part of the Giants fanbase and the city that hosts this team. I am especially disappointed that this was seemingly endorsed by management and the other players. I cannot imagine the hurt your queer staff members must feel, knowing team management at every level allowed players to very actively signal that this team is not safe for the LGBTQ+ community.
I hope that the Giants management will do the right thing and issue an apology, and require all players who actively refused to participate in Pride Night activities to learn why their actions are harmful. Wearing a rainbow hat may seem meaningless, but gestures like that influence the culture of the team--and refusing to lift up marginalized communities absolutely influences the culture of the team in a bad way.
I was excited to see this year how the team has embraced its Latinx players and fans with open arms. However, after the decisions made at Pride Night, I am concerned that at all levels the team is unsafe for marginalized staff and fans. I hope you hear the disappointment from those of us that love this team, and change for the better. I know I and many others feel we can no longer support this team personally and financially if the decisions made on Pride Night are not reconciled in some capacity.
Thank you for reading, and I hope it is understood that this message comes from someone with a deep, deep love for this team who wants better for us fans and all the wonderful people who make this team great.
so upsetting reading about the "protests" (sanctioned bigotry) that was allowed out of the bullpen during last night's game. this is absolutely an issue with every single part of the team, from the players to the management to all the staff. not one person in power shut down this absolutely loser behavior.
my heart breaks especially for any staff in the organization who now know that they will not be protected. the san francisco giants choosing to uplift bigotry and homophobia rather than proudly supporting all their staff and fans will now ALWAYS be a part of this team's legacy. in the united states now, with trans rights under active attack by our government, THIS is the time to be brave. THIS is the time to tell your players that if they're going to put on a disgusting, bigoted display in front of thousands of their fans that they will sit on the fucking bench.
just a reminder that this is the team who employs harrison bader, who chose to play for team isreal and represent a country actively committing a genocide. this is another example of an active CHOICE by the management of this team to platform hate, and I am disgusted by it. I hope they face an immense amount of backlash and understand that this was an absolutely cowardly thing to do, and that they hear from their fans how disappointed we are. I know I frankly can't think about even buying tickets to another game if they choose to stay silent on this, and that breaks my heart as someone who does love this team.
the shirt😭
I fear the St. Luis Cardinals are eating with the names. Sonny Gray. Lars Nootbaar. JoJo Romero. and like half the player names are alliterative. very whimsical 10/10
