23: Biggest disappointment you’ve had in gaming?(Oh boy here we go again)
Aside from the community in many games (lookin’ at you, CoD franchise), my biggest pet peeve is when I see wasted potential. I’ll take a simple example: Kinect. That thing is an astonishing piece of technology and YET it is NEVER used at its full potential. Instead, all we have is dance games and laggy shooters (between 100ms and 300ms of latency, officially; can you imagine playing with a mouse or a controller and having a third of a second of latency? That would get you killed on first contact; your only hope is for your enemy to be using Kinect too).
Besides, sure it would be fun to be playing a shooter while virtually holding the damn rifle, but that’s just gadget, playing a whole game like that isn’t what gamers are looking for. Instead, it would have been a way better idea to use the kinect to help the player along with a controller. For example, you could be controlling your character as usual, with the controller, but with a move of your hand in the air, you could give orders to your allies (using tactical hand signs, maybe?) or even communicate silently in multiplayer that way. The damn camera can distinguish your fingers, for christ’s sake!
And that is only an example for shooter games. There are many other kind of games that could have benefited from concepts like that…. but never did.
That’s my biggest disappointment.
26: Handheld or console?
Hmmm, I’m torn. In the absolute, if I really had to choose, I would say console, but I’m a user and lover of both, so…
Although, for financial and practical reasons, I’m playing more PC games— well, I guess that soon counts as console with the Steam box coming around, huh.
That is the best tag someone ever made for me thanks you deserve a prize *gives the aki prize thing*
