@bashfulxce There’s a romantic picnic set up for Souji with all of his favorite foods and treats since Asahi knows his boyfriend loves to be outside in nature. He’s also gathered several wrapped presents and has a special surprise for Souji that he’s keeping very secret for now because he wants this birthday to be very special for him. 

“Asahi it’s beautiful!!”  Such a pretty sunset on the hill.  He was so delighted, the food and drink only outdone by the company.  So many presents as well, and he was hesitant to open them.  “They... they’re wrapped so nicely I don’t want to ruin them!!” he laughed finally.

He was soaked to the bone yet he barely noticed the chill or the pouring rain. The wait after knocking...was agonizing. And when the door opened, his breath hitched sharply in his throat. He could only stare back at Asahi, eyes wide as he blinked against the rain dripping down into them. His stomach clenched at the sight of the man, and for a long moment...he was at a loss for words. Eventually, he found his voice...but what could he even say...?

“...Hi...” Would Asahi even hear him over the sound of the storm? His voice was deep and soft, and though it tended to carry naturally...it seemed so small with that single, simple word. That word feeling so heavy as it rolled off his tongue. He was tense, his hands trembling, though not from the cold. It was...so difficult...not to simply throw himself into the other’s arms. Would his friend even welcome his return...? Abel wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t...

“A-Asahi...?” Adrian gently tugged on the other male’s shirt. “Can.. can we go out someplace..? I want to go someplace.. like.. on a...”

The blonde seemed anxious.. or at least, more than usual. He had seen something on the television and he.. he wanted to try. Granted, it was a girl and a boy, and he wasn’t sure what his role would be. (He’s definitely more feminine.. so probably the girl..)

“Like.. lets l-leave the house.” He gulped, cheeks flushed red.

It’s more like a dress than a shirt, but it was so nice and warm.  The sleeves went over his arms, flopping down as he curled up on the couch.  No work for now, just relaxing with his boyfriend’s giant hoodie and watching videogame streams.  Life was so good...

Would be even there if Asahi was with him

“No occasion!!!”  He smiled and leaned back. “It’s just my favorite seat in all the world!!”  He was warm and smelled so nice.  He sighed, leaning against this chest.

It took him a while, not wanting to say anything or sow just how embarrassed he was, but soon there was a soft “...I’m okay...” before he crawled to his knees.  his nose was red, as well as his forehead.  

“I-I swear I’m more graceful normally...” he sighed.  Gods that was so humiliating!!!

It was simply one of those days. Every single thing around him seemed to remind him...of her. And that crack in his heart seemed to split wider. He couldn’t hold it in any longer. And when he felt a touch on his shoulder, he stared back at Asahi’s face tearfully before caving in. He wobbled forward and buried his face against the other’s shoulder, clinging to him as he trembled and shook with sobs. 

Somehow, he’d subconsciously made his way to where he knew the man would be. Abel didn’t have anyone else. Was it even okay to come to Asahi for comfort? If he’d been thinking straight...he never would have done so, but in his desperation, he’s sought out the only person he felt he could turn to now. He didn’t want to be alone. 

He was always alone. Always. Even when he was surrounded by people. Because he held others at bay...refused to let anyone in. He didn’t want to be alone. But he had to be. It was the only way to guard his heart from more of this devastating heartbreak. But this isolation held a misery of its own.

“N-no... please...” Souji shifted, twitching, fingers stretching out as much as he could with the paralysis of sleep.  They were leaving... they were all leaving... and it was just himself... and in the shadows, slowly coming out... a ghost... a man who just didn’t seem to leave him alone, even if death.

He woke up with a start, eyes clouded, unfocused as he scrambled away.  “N-no... no no no---A..Asahi???”  He finally focused and sighed.  Gods... not now... why now???
