OH MY GOD THEY'RE BIRDS-
I like his post, I like your idea of Addisons that are black are considered to be 'higher power' because they are more important ads and catch eyes more due to it. (like your example or museums or Broadway shows)
But I like to lean into the, 'Addisons are like birds' because in study where scientist used marker on a male birds to darken his chest feathers, making him a 'supper hot male'. In the experiment, it showed that a female would prefer to take a partner who has darker plumage than lighter plumage, so it would make sense that they would be attracted to darker Addisons and the ShadowGuys.
Darker = Better.

i'm elated that you like my post so! and i strongly appreciate the bird facts, i will be sure to incorporate this into something if i can find a way to do it...
that said, as much as i love seeing the designs, i've never bought into addisons as birds or birdlike. my headcanon is moreso that addisons are supposed to vaguely resemble lightners in shape, just like other strongly anthropomorphized/personified darkners like world bosses, people like seam and jevil, and shadowguys. i think all darkners are, really, but for darkners whose objects were meant to directly appeal to lightners, they get the conversion/abstraction/gijinka-ification treatment more strongly.
which is all to say that, i think (with the right magic and coding) any individual addison (or other similar darkners) can "customize" their appearance. addisons in particular would be drawn to things that make them look more like lightners: so monster traits like ears and fur and feathers and claws; or human traits like hair and nails and (i don't know, intestines or something?) are their appeal. this is my way of justifying avian and feline traits that i see everywhere while still sticking to my preference of having addisons look human-like
in terms of addison interest and attraction, though: societally, i think addisons are more attracted to status and power than anything else. they like signifiers. most of the time, color is just color to them. darker primarily = junior to them (within my senior addison headcanon), though at a certain point in value it does become darker = more successful. sometimes what's a signifier to them will be an innocuous or inherent trait to other darkners.
to be a little esoteric: to addison society. (and this is somewhat a fallacy.) the lighter in (color theory) value you are, the closer you are to the light world. and a black addison is "dark" in the way that darkbulbs are in dark worlds. light shining through an inactive OLED screen.
i made this a comic because i thought it would be cute. sev-5 is trying to tell you how they're not like other addisons here
