Assignment 1: Basic Astrological Shorthand
Goal: Identify astrological shorthand, what the signs represent and the ruler of each planet.

Before we hop into the solar system and flesh out what the zodiac is in terms of the Earth itself, I thought it best to familiarize myself with the glyphs first since they tend to pop up right from the get-go. We will build off this knowledge later.
Astronomers of the ancient world originally assigned these planet rulerships. However, they were later modified by modern astrologers in the 1700s to integrate the discovery of planets such as Uranus (1781), Neptune (1846) and Pluto (1930). Assigning rulership of these plants was largely based on the current events of the time (Parker, 96).
Make notecards for each of the following symbols with the glyph on one side and the astrological sign and representation on the other:

In assignment two we will learn about the anatomy of Earth in relation to its hemispheres and poles and what that means astrologically when looking at your birth chart.
